Magnet is great and very powerful but so powerful occasionally when removing your phone, the entire assembly is pulled out of the CD holder. Slightly concerned with minor damage to felt lining of CD slot.

I had a sticky suction cup mountable smartphone cradle for my car that just stopped sticking after many years of use and temperature extremes. I was looking for something magnetic that would work with my existing phone case/pop socket (for iPhone 7). I also didn’t want to have to mount another thing in my car as I’m not sure how much longer I’ll have this car (it’s a crap car on its last legs)... was looking for something that could easily be moved to another car. I was originally looking at smartphone mounts for vent clips but decided that my car’s vents and the clip-on mount product just wouldn’t work for me.A friend had suggested I look into mounts that fit into the CD player slot (because who uses cds anymore anyway?) and I came across this one. I was able to slip the metal plate inside the back of my phone case either above or below where the pop socket is located. I didn’t stick the metal plate to my phone because I wanted to be able to move it or change phones down the line... works just fine. I like how the clip fits snugly into the cd slot and doesn’t take up the whole thing, so it can be moved horizontally to one side of the slot. This allows me to still use most of the buttons on the aftermarket radio head unit installed in my car. The magnet is very strong, but the mount still stays securely in the cd slot when taking my phone on and off it. I commute through some pretty bumpy roads daily (in a car with less than ideal shocks) and this thing hasn’t budged with my phone mounted on it.I’ve also tried it out in another car with a different kind of CD player/slot and it works just as well. Love that the mount also swivels around so you can turn your device to your preferred angle. Very versatile product, great buy for the price. Would definitely recommend.

If you're reading through all the reviews, this is going to sound familiar. (I did NOT read the reviews before buying this.) I had the previous model of this and it worked great for several years but then the collar around the ball joint cracked. So I hopped on Amazon to buy another one and saw this new version and bought it instead. The new version has a smaller profile and looks cooler and less intrusive when there's not a phone attached to it. But, sadly, the new one just simply doesn't have enough tension in the ball joint to hold my phone upright. If I set it up just perfectly, and if the car isn't moving, it will hold fine. But once the car is in motion, any slight bump or jostle causes my phone to rotate down and face the floor. There is no adjustment mechanism to tighten it, so this thing is essentially useless. I should probably return it but I'll end up just throwing it away and I'll have to go find a different product for this purpose.

I don't like my phone to be up high on my dash to where it's visible so I LOVE this phone holder in my Mini Cooper. I don't think most of us use CD players anymore so what better way to repurpose it? It comes with 2 magnets so I put both inside my phone case (otterbox symmetry) and it works like a charm.

Received mount with one part missing. There are three flops that are entered into CD slot, those flops have silicon/rubber stickers on them so to reduce any vibration and perhaps have a firmer grip. My mount had one of them missing as it arrived. I will be careful removing this mount out of the CD slot as this made me think that another one has a chance to come off inside the CD slot.On the good side, this phone mount look small and doesn't become an eye sore. I'm using it with iPhone6s and phone completely covers the mount. I will be using it in my Subaru Outback'17 and this unit really blends in with my center console and doesn't obstruct the touch screen when positioned with 'push' button upwards. When iPhone is mounted however, it will block the touchscreen but it becomes as if phone is now the new touch screen. This mount also comes with two very thin metal plates, which worked great with my leather iPhone case.

I bought this to replace an older one that broke. It is a bit shorter than my old one but that's a good thing. The longer one would allow my phone to bounce up and down. The shorter stem makes the phone stay more stable. I do have a case on my phone so I just slipped the metal plate under it without sticking it down and it works. The only problem I had was getting it into the CD slot in my truck. It was a two-hand operation holding the insert to make it thin enough to fit. Once in, there's no way it's going to slip out on its own.

We got this with the metal plates and have been using it in the car for a few years. We've been using with iphone 11s. Generally worked pretty well for about a year and a half. Then started weakening and the phones would sometimes rotate upside down during use. We typically put the metal plates near the bottom of our phone cases so they wouldn't interfere with another wireless charging stand that we own. Perhaps that made our setup too top heavy. Now it cannot hold the phones up straight at all and the rotation has no resistance. Be warned if you have a similar setup that this may not last as long as you hoped.

Best cell phone holder. Has a magnetic grip like no other if you secure the included magnet to back of your phone. I still use my phone case over the attached magnet. I have to tug & twist the phone to remove from holder. CD's are still able to play if holder is inserted, if you ever play them.

Small device, the prongs don't go deep enough into the cd player to hold it strongly enough. The magnet is very strong for heavy phones however.My main gripe is having to readjust it every time because it droops when I take my phone away. And doing so caused one of the sticky pads to peel off INSIDE my cd player.Avoid. You'll end up with things stuck inside and it will forever damage your player.

The concept/design works really well, firmly attaching to the CD slot. Magnets are good so there's little chance of the phone coming off.However there is one problem. The three 'tongues' that hold in the CD slot are covered with a thin silicon/rubber pad to create better grip. Unfortunately these grippy pads are attached with double sided adhesive tape and slowly slide off the plastic parts. I stuck them back on with superglue but customers should be aware...

This thing is great!No longer have to suffer with vent clip brackets that are lose fitting and block off the vents too.Slide it straight into the cd slot and boom, perfect mount.Strong and steady hold in the slot and the phone sits firmly in place.Was worth the few days wait from the States.

I had the previous version for nearly 2 years before it broke (the plastic ball joint finally broke, probably from in-car vibration) so replaced with the newer version. First time out, the ball joint lost tightness and would no longer hold phone upright. There is no accessible adjustment or tightening and it is now completely useless. The overall design is good, magnet attachment to phone is great and the CD slot works well BUT - the ball joint is terrible and doesn't support the phone. Maybe the unit shipped is flawed but if all are like this, then absolutely CANNOT recommend
