We wanted this bulb for a specific location - a stairwell to our basement. A regular bulb is too bright - blinding you as you descend the stairs. This bulb works as we hoped it would. A soft light, pleasant, warm yellow glow and the 60 watt size provides enough light to safely see. We tried the 40 watt size but it was too dim for our location. One thing, we ordered two bulbs so we'd have a spare on hand. Our first order arrived and BOTH bulbs were broken! (The filament was broken, not the bulb casing.) We notified Amazon and they immediately sent us what we needed to return the bulbs, shipping free and they immediately sent out two new bulbs. Interestingly, though the 2nd order did not appear to be any better packed than the first, both bulbs arrived damage-free!

Recommended bulb for lamp purchased on Amazon. Great looking vintage style bulb that provides adequate light for floor lamp next to easy chair.

I love the lighting that comes from this bulb. It’s bright enough but it gives somewhat of a vintage look.

Bring back the incandescent bulb!We purchased this to replace a globe bulb in a hanging fixture over a dining table. In particular I wanted an incandescent bulb and I appreciate the softer lighting of the Edison bulb for nighttime ambience. it is much healthier for light signaling to the eye at night than the brighter LED bulbs that also give off an unnatural hue even when they try to balance the colors in the spectrum they project.The rush to save energy has been done carelessly and at the expense of human health. Using warm bulbs with more of an orange to red coloring is healthier at night. when candles are not an option, (and beeswax ones provide healthier air quality than petroleum-basedones), I think a warm incandescent bulb is the way to go. Daylight is healthier by day. anyone who wants to use LED should probably consider looking into therapeutic, properly balanced LED lighting. People have no idea of the health problems they are creating in the name of “saving the planet.“ The pollution generated by the medical system as a result of the damage of this lighting will far outweigh the energy savings of switching from incandescent. Not to mention issues about making and disposing of LED lights.
