Originally released in 2003, this was the debut EP by NJ's post-hardcore outfit, and is now re-issued with all original packaging, artwork, and track listing. In retrospect, it sounds like the blueprint for their somewhat experimental form of grindcore. Musically, however, it's a better than average grindcore release, with some unexpectedly jazzy and funky turnarounds slipped between the unison-riff assaults.

Amazed me. After a while.
This bands insane and brutal style takes a while to get used to. i first got into this band by their cover of "My Sharona" which is not even close to their style. I like it, so I decided to check out their other stuff. It was amazing. But I just didnt know it yet. At first they just assaulted my ears with noise. So I left them to age in my library a while. When i came back to them, I was stunned. I was more mature, a better and more knowledgeble guitar player, so i could understand their insanely technical guitar parts. I was more mature so i could feel the raw emotion in their tortured screams. I love that they contrast beauty and brutality. The most brutal song, Bambi the Hooker and a Case of Beer (tied with Dont Get Blood on My Prada Shoes) is right before one of the most beautiful, creative, technical pieces i have ever heard. It is such an amazing song and really brings out the most in number twelve looks like you. Another spot where their creativity shows, while equally disgusting, is the rumor that this is a concept album about the murder of Grace Budd (Grace Budd. Document). All the lyrics sound like it. And while at the surface, it seems awful, it shows a great deal of sensitivity along with an almost scary understanding of the murderer. This is grindcore, after all.Bottom line, an amazing band made an amazing album. Cant wait to hear what they put out next.

number 12 sounds like this
this CD is THICK with loud music, a very sharp, fast and unpredictable soundit is a mix of overwhelmingly complex, rapid guitar playing, ear-piercing shreeks/screams, and a frantic sharp drum hitsit is like a hot tub, if you get in too fast it burns, but once you get used to the water, it feels awesome and you cant get enoughit is extremely impressive with its musical complexity and technicality as well as its unrelenting high-pitched, ear stabbing soundthere are some parts in the CD that are so shocking it actually scares you with its sound and then the intensity reaches such a point that you feel an almost overdose of adrenalinebottom line, its worth the money

I own all three of The #12's albums. Honestly, this was my first favorite, and is still my favorite. An Inch of Gold wasn't very good besides the two new tracks on it, the new recordings of "don't get blood on my prada shoes" and "Jesus and Tori" were just bad...they lacked all the energy that they had on this album. This album is sick and twisted, and the first time listening to it and researching about grace budd I almost threw up. But nonetheless, this CD rips your face off and spits it back at you, then repeats. The little kazoo track on the end is kind of random, but sounded like My Sharona haha. Anyways, if you like this genre, and want a more raw #12, this CD is amazing.Hell, I didn't even LIKE this genre when I first listened to them. I'm hooked.

Couldn't possibly get any better.
Just pure technical grind goodness. It's in my top 5 favorite albums of all time.

Back when they sounded like everyone else...
Well, I became a fan of The Number Twelve Looks Like You about 2 years ago with the release of "An Inch of Gold.." and especially with their MUCH BETTER full length, "Nuclear Sad Nuclear." What makes "Nuclear" such a great record is that it stands out as being so different from the hundreds of other releases every year coming from bands who perform this style of music. What makes this album so terrible is it sounds just like everyone else. Not much originality and definitely missing a lot of the quirks and nuances that make this band so entertaining today. This is before The Number Tweleve really came into their own and became innovative. If you gladly listen to whatever is put out in this form of music, and don't actually have a concern for lyrical improvement, and intellgent/original musical arrangements, then this album will make you happy, otherwise just get "Nuclear" and enjoy this excellent band!
