Needed an inline switch that indicated switch position and availability of power
I like this switch for having solid screw contacts, not pinch connections that fail. This switch also has a power indicator. I wired mine so it shows availability of power for switching. Circuit is controlled by a thermostat. Wiring this switch "backwards" allows me to see if the thermostat set point has been reached. Switch controls a heat transfer fan.

Wire connection to switch
This is a high quality inline switch suitable for desk lamps. The switch is about three time the size of a small, inline, rotary switch. The thumb switch is MUCH easier to use than a rotary switch where you need to rotate the switch to just the right position to make it turn on the light. Note: You need a little phillips head screwdriver to replace the old rotary switch. I simply cut the lamp wire on both sides of the old rotary switch, stripped the two wires leaving about 1/2" of bare wire exposed. The wire on most lamp cords is actually a bundle of little hair-thin wires. You need to get all of those little wires twisted so they form a nice, tight single bundle. Split the plastic sheath about 5/8" more so youcan put the wire into the new thumb switch. Use you Phillips screwdriver to take the thumb switch apart. Look at the inside of the switch. There are two screws next to a little neon light. Look at the screws from he side and unscrew the screws until you see that there is enough space between the bottom of the screw and he base so you can insert one of the wires coming from the plug. Insert, tighten the screw and then do the same with the other wire and screw. Next, attach the wires that come from the light to the other two screws using the same technique. Reassemble the case of the switch and you are ready to test the light. -- This type of connection is unusual for most home products but is fairly common in many commercial applications. If you know how to solder electrical equipment you may want to "tin" the four wire leads to do a more professional job.

Great switch, happy I got a multipack- I'm going to go around and do a bunch of upgrades now!
This is a nice upgrade from a typical rotary inline switch. It has a good design and is large and sturdy.I like the small red LED indicator to find the switch in the dark. I used this to do a complete re-wiring of a vintage hobnail-glass lamp that I'm using as a bedside lamp, and am no longer worried I'm going to knock it off my nightstand in the dark fumbling for the cord!Installation is easy- simply cut and strip the wire where you want the switch to be, then twist the exposed ends around the terminals and snug down the screws, tucking the wires in as you do so (the pic shows before I finished which i why there are bits hanging out), then put the cover back on and voila! Switch!I'd rather buy a cool old lamp and fix it up, than a new one- reuse, recycle, reduce! And you can't beat vintage flair. Ok gonna go rummage around the attic and bring down some more restoration projects, bye now!

Not Bad, But Beware
Not Bad, But Beware...The main reason I’m giving this product two stars is that with power on and switched to the off position there’s a big blue spark you can see inside the switch, and a very noticeable electrical pop sound. I couldn’t trust the switch.I bought them because I need a couple rocker switches for some LED lights/lamps around the house. I found these and liked that they had an indicator light on the switch showing when power was flowing through the switch, so I ordered them. When they arrived, my first impression was they were sort of under engineered and not very durable, but I wasn’t using them in an industrial setting so I didn’t see it as a problem. I could gently twist the switch and feel it flex in my hands.I opened the switch and it didn’t look too bad. The internal rocker switch mechanism seemed a little flimsy, which could be a problem because that’s one of the most important parts of the switch. The shell screw mounts moved and rocked back and forth because of thin wall thickness, no bracing and the supporting shell itself was thin and flexible. The threads in the posts, which hold the switch shell together, felt like they were ready to give way on four of five switches.Overall, middling quality, but I could work around all of this just by being careful and gentle when working with the switch.A couple things I liked about the switches are inside the shell are markings showing line and neutral, and the connections are terminal blocks rather than screw wrap posts. I really liked that. Look at other customers pictures and you’ll see what I mean. So, there were some good features and some not too good, and some middling.Bottom line is I had to return them because I couldn’t trust them.

Easy to install and use
I bought the 5-pack for the volume discount and got it the next day! Installation was easy. Just open the cover; cut and strip back the wires, exposing about 1/8" to 1/4" and twist them tight; insert the wires into the post; screw them down; and replace the cover - done. You can install it either with the diode towards the power source, if you want to know if you're getting juice or plugged in; or install it with the diode towards the appliance, if you want to know if the appliance is on. Note that the "neutral" wire on most appliances is ribbed and the "hot" wire is not.

Good product
It was very easy to install. I had used a different switch product before but it left exposed live wires which was not safe for the house. That led me to look for an alternative which is when this came to mind. For products that are instant on when plugged in, i was finally able to control it with a switch. It is crazy easy to install. All i had to do was splice the cord, screw in the wires, cover, and ka-boom. It was set and ready to go.I really love the light indicator on it. Sometimes i get confused whether it is set to on or off or is it simply need a new light bulb. This helps solve that.Bonus thing is that it comes in a multipack of five. Built great and to last a long time.
