First Food my Picky Cat with Digestion Issues Loves that Loves Him Back!
I've had my cat for 7 years. During that time he has been the pickiest eater. Despite being a large-framed breed, he has always been very slim and light (under his massive coats of super long fur!). He's always just nibbled at his food, eaten no more than a few bites at once, and thrown it back up about a third of the time.Also--and I'm sorry to be indelicate, but I know most cat family will understand--his bowel movements have also always been super smelly! He has also always been pretty fussy about his food, even turning his nose up at most wet food, and taking no more than two or three bites of the wet foods he did approve of.I've taken him to the vet regularly, and after blood work and stool tests and exams they put him on a prescription high-protein food. He threw that up too. I've tried Blue Buffalo, IAMS, and several other brands, from high-end to average and have had no luck.I finally found this Taste of the Wild food at my local Agway, and I'll admit that it was the lovely nature drawings on the bags of the various flavors that first drew my attention. But after reading the ingredients, I found that it seemed on par nutrition-wise with the prescription food I'd been buying (at $50 a bag) that we'd long-since given up on.So I tried it, and lo and behold, Mr. Picky Eater tucked right in! He loved it, and he kept it down. I have never found a pile of this food thrown up anywhere (again, cat owners, I know you understand), and now when he uses the litter box we don't even always know it because the terrible smell is no more. He's put on a little weight and loves to get the bowl filled. I'm wondering if its that these are meats that are not in most cat food. (we've been getting the venison and salmon flavor), but that's only my guess.I have a second cat who was rescued from the streets, and who, after having to really struggle for food when he was homeless, is now very food-motivated. Whatever I try to give my picky eater, this boy loves and eats whatever his brother leaves behind plus his own portion. And yet he is not a fan of the Taste of the Wild food. I've continued giving him his favorite, which is Purina Naturals Indoor Cat.I can tell who is eating what by watching, but even when I don't, Mr. Picky Eater has a system that lets me know when and what he eats. He has a little bin of his favorite sparkle-ball toys, and every time he eats he leaves one in the dish. It's not that he drops them mid-play or anything; when he thinks nobody is watching, I see him go to the bin of sparkly balls, take a minute to choose just the right one for the moment, carry it to the food bowl, drop it in, and then eat. It's like he is paying for his food with sparkle-balls. Maybe that's not the most relevant to this review, but it's too cute not to share. And importantly, I'm finding sparkly balls left as payment more often, and in bigger numbers, and seeing the food actually disappear!(Mr. Will-Eat-Anything still tries to cover his food, thinking someone will come take it, so I also know what he's eating and when. We're working on it so he's never worried about being hungry again, but it takes time. But I also know what he's eating because of his covering behavior, and it's not the Taste of the Wild. He once dragged a black trash bag full of empty soda bottles waiting to be returned over his food dish. He's serious about hiding it!)Bottom Line:Good nutrition, I assume good flavor (I don't personally like the smell--Amazon asks for a star rating for flavor, but I'm not gonna try it!), endorsed by at least one picky eater, and possibly easy on the stomach. Make sure you give lots of fresh water with dry food diets, and enjoy your cats!

So glad I changed her food.....
Since changing my dogs food to better quality I wanted to buy something for my little meow meow too. I was a little leery of buying this reading some of the negative reviews but ultimately did because of how many positive reviews. I made sure to buy the green bag and also purchased some Whiskas "Real Chicken with broth" so she had plenty of watery food as well. Apparently, I didn't need it because I had not really ever paid attention to how much water my cat drinks anyway. Its been a few months now and I felt it was time to review this product. Lilly (my cat) really took to the food fast. I mixed half of her old food with half this one so she could transition out of the old. Amazingly, she is not so lethargic. She runs around this house like a maniac with the dogs and her coat has gone from a pretty brown to a gorgeous shimmering black/brown. The coat was the realization for me. She has always had a beautiful coat but now its so thick and healthy. I will have to buy a hairball remedy to replace her "hairball remedy" food I had been feeding her. Not an issue since seeing the difference in her would be worth far more than any hairball oil cost. She has also lost some weight which I'm chalking up to the running around and not so much the leanness of the food. Now don't get me wrong she still sleeps for 18 hours a day (lucky) but the time she is awake she is not just waddling or laying around. She keeps playing with the dogs tennis ball too. Not sure what that's all about. I also didn't have the cat box issues some owners spoke of in the reviews but that could be because I have a covered box with filters and I use Arm & Hammer heavy duty mixed with A&H essentials. I don't think I will feed my girl anything else from now on. I will recommend this to other cat owners along with plenty of water and maybe the occasional soft food in broth.

My cat's like the taste and my budget likes the price
No cat food is worth buying if your cats won't eat it. I have tried quite a few that they just plain don't like.Taste of the Wild has good ingredients, high protein, is grain-free and can be bought at a reasonable price for the quality. Some might argue that the only thing worth feeding them is 100% organic free range chickens and line caught Alaska wild salmon.I'm of the opinion that it's more important to look at the nutritional analysis and check the ingredients for fillers and things that don't belong in the diet of carnivores like cats.Frankly, the right amount of ground up bone and guts is closer to the natural diet of felines. So, something like chicken meal or fish meal is good for them because it has those things in it.No matter how good it is for humans, cats need nutrients not found in a chicken breast.Still, the bottom line is finding a food that the cats will eat and Papa can afford. Taste of the Wild hits the mark on both of them.Try a small bag and see if your cats agree. Not all do, which accounts for the plethora of different brands and varieties available. This one is worth a try.

My cats love this grain, free cat food.
Love this grain free cat food. My kitties love it much better for my cats than store-bought cat food.
