6 Medium Basswood Carving Blocks Measuring 1.5 X 1.5 X 6 Inches of Premium Carving/Whittling Wood.

Full disclosure: I did not carve these, I used them as-is in a larger project involving a refrigerator and a cupboard, long story.But they are clean, knotless, smoothly finished, and the dimensions are spot on.

The blocks came well packaged and quickly considering it was the christmas season. This is the first time I have tried carving on a block larger than 1x1x4, and it was very enjoyable. The wood was cut to specification and was very clean and clear of flaws. Other wood I have gotten lately has had knots burried inside the bass wood blocks which makes it hard to use, but this wood was really soft and the grain was great.

Disclaimer: First time wood carving so I don’t have much wood knowledge. But this was easy to shape and perfect for me to learn my way around the ways of whittling. Next time I’ll be ordering different sizes. Best value/quantity for money.

I've only had 2 blocks with coarse grain that splits easy. The rest was perfect, even near the end of a carving when my knife wasn't at its sharpest. Best store-bought wood I've gotten so far.

It’s basswood. I might’ve received a bad batch or it’s not true northern basswood. My knives are extremely sharp, but I had a really tough time with the first piece. I compared it to another block I had of my own and that one cuts like butter. I won’t buy this again. Too bad because the price is good.

I have purchased Canusa basswood in the past from this seller. I have always received a great product from them. I have been out of the carving scene for a while and have recently returned and was looking for this seller again and found them on Amazon. Great wood, clear and true to sizes specified in the description. One cannot go wrong when ordering wood from Canusa.
