What is the difference between shs-p718lbk and p718lmk ??

The difference is the mortise size. LBK = AML320 mortise which is used for very thick doors and commercial buildings. LMK = AML220 mortise which is shorter but same width and length as the AML320. It is used more for residential homes.

Will this work in low temperatures down to 15F or -9C?

It typically does not get that cold in the northeast US where I live. I have seen down to 28 degrees so far this year and it has worked as expected. I purchased this lock a few months ago so I assume time will tell as it does get down below 0 occasionally. Sorry I could not be of more help. Overall, I give this device a 3.5 out of 5. Sometimes the fingerprint scanner won't work unless my finger is a little moist. The RFID scanner seems slow as well.I may rate it higher when I use it more through the cold winter.

How does this even work on a traditional door that has two separate holes for a door knob and dead bolt?

It can be installed into existing doors. After carving the mortise, it is large enough to take the space of the existing holes. I installed both of mine into an existing doors with the two holes. They fit perfectly and they cover everything.
