neat journal, smelled kinda petroleum-y. I stashed it inside a large ziploc bag with a whole pile of dried patchouli and that took care of the smell. Baking soda would probably have done the same, but I was afraid it would damage/dry out the leather.The leather that wraps around the cover is thinner than you'd expect but feels good and the whole thing is a decent package.I didn't care for the way all the pages look like they were bound in one bunch and folded over. That's the reason for the mediocre review.I found an almost identical, also-leather journal with the same dimensions and same basic principle as this, at Hobby Lobby for $7. This cost quite a lot more than that. And the one I bought at Hobby Lobby has the pages bound in small sections and then stitched into the wrap cover, so they lay more like a book should.I'm not sorry I bought it, but I'm glad I bought the other one at Hobby Lobby.....

The journal smells very bad. Unusable.**Edit*** they processed me a refund 1 year after i bought it since it still smells really bad after a year of airing it out. For that I give 100% customer feedback satisfaction. I recommend you try it out since they have such good customer service since others seem to really like it. Hope you get a good one, and if not - they will right it as they did for me. Two thumbs up.

Very beautiful journal, looks old. I would have given it 5 stars but the texture is very stiff and hard, which was unexpected.

Smells funny... but what i expected!!

Journal is great but smells so bad. I don't know if its just mine or if its for all. There was one other review of the smell but I just didn't realized something this new would smell so bad. Like body order and backed up toilet.

I haven't opened the packaging yet as it is a gift. But from the outside it is beautiful. Lovely cover and you can see the parchment is thick. Perfect for a fountain pen diary
