Great single blade folding knife
Razor sharp 6.3cm blade This knife really feels indestructible, the most durable knife i ever had. Thanks to Amazon many swiss army knifes are very affordable this is one of my 8 Victorinoxes Its simple, but a great build, made of two part alox (aluminium) handles, spring, 3 rivets and the famous blade. The spring is so tough it will not allow to close the blade on your fingers and it needs a lot more force to close the blade than on any other standard pen knifes, so that makes it a great alternative to a lock knife. The grip is not as good as on the big 108mm Solo knife, but still a lot better than the polished standard plastic handles. What i am not happy about is the fact that for this knife there is no belt pouch specifically designed and no key ring or lanyard hole on it, so it can get easy lost. Anyway for this funny price a Victorinox? (12quid at the time i got it) it was so hard to believe that i just had to buy it. Higly recommended. Update - now i use this knife as a backup and keep it in my survival emergency kit knife is an essential tool and a pen knife is better than nothing and it fits in most survival, emergency and 1st aid kits. If you want more than a single blade, go for the Victorinox Farmer, same quality, same durability, but more useful tools for just couple more quid.

Swiss made perfection
Absolutely beautiful single bladed victrinox knife. EDC so safe to carry within the UK with a valid reason. It's the craftsmanship, yes it might be factory produced but it is made in Switzerland. I've bought a Whitby mint edc also and sadly due to it being made in china, it had numerous paint quality issues (that's certainly not to say all Chinese made products are bad, far from it, some are exceptional).. anyway I digress... Lovely tactile knife, I prefer it over the similar sized opinel. Don't worry about it saying made in CH on the barcode on the box. CH is the code for Switzerland. All in all perfect. I needed a single blade but certainly would stick in the alox style and try a multi tooled one in the future. Five stars!! Easily five!!

Great edc folder!
This solid little Victorinox folder is great for everyday urban tasks! The smooth slipjoint blade came razor sharp and is perfect for light-to-medium cutting tasks. Both the blade and the handle are slightly larger than on the Victorinox Cadet, which is great if you need more knife and less tools. The slipjoint spring is strong and it therefore takes some push too close it, which is very good and makes the knife more secure and easy to use. It very thin, lightweight and made of excellent quality! I cannot recommend this knife enough, it's truly great knife for everyday carry (due to it's elegant looks it can indeed be carried when dressed up as well)! 5/5 stars!

Useful tool
I do like to carry a knife since it's one tool that you never know when you're going to need, and these days you have to be careful that you don't break the stringent UK knife laws. Personally I prefer a lock knife since you know it's not going to cut your fingers off in use, but those in power believe they know better. The problem I've had is that so many folding knives have angled edges, especially around the folding mechanism. I keep my knife in my jeans pocket, and these, not sharp but often slightly pointed, parts start wearing holes through the pocket and eventually through the denim. That's the reason I went for the Victorinox Alox, i.e. because both ends of the knife when folded are nicely rounded. I guess the majority of designers are aiming for a guard of sorts to stop your hand sliding down the handle and onto the blade, admirable but in this case not what I wanted. I've had Victorinox knives in the past with variable results. I have one of their trekking knives (which I bought exactly for that purpose) but while it was legal to carry when I bought it, subsequent law changes have made it illegal to carry (probably OK if I'm trekking, but not as an EDC knife). The reason - it locks and the blade is probably a bit too long. The Victorinox Alox doesn't lock (note though it doesn't feel as solid when opened as some other knives I own) and has an EDC legal blade length. I've also had a couple of those smaller and cheaper Victorinox multi function knives, but found that the plastic scales tended to break and eventually fall off. Another reason for choosing the Alox. I also noted that it was possible to buy the Alox knife with all the additional functions, however I've found that the knife blade is the one in use for 99% of the time while the other functions rarely get a look in. The fact that this knife has just the single blade with no unnecessary bits and pieces also means that it's very slim and light, ideal for slipping in your pocket for everyday use (I've only had it two days and it's already been put to use). As other reviewers have mentioned, it does seem to come quite sharp out of the box. The first thing I did was put it to the paper test and it passed. For those unfamiliar with this, it's where you hold a piece of paper and cut through it with the knife without holding the paper taut; a blunt knife will merely fold the paper. As I've said, it's also been put to practical use and met expectations. I'm only dropping a star because it's obviously too soon to comment on its longevity and resilience. Also, while I'm not expecting it I could still end up with a hole in my jeans. Finally, I do have a preference for carbon steels over stainless blades (the former are easier to sharpen), especially since I don't intend to go swimming with it. However for the price, you're not going to overly worry about how long it'll stand up to regular use so I'm optimistic so far. Due possibly to its lightness, it doesn't feel as if it will stand up to too much heavy duty use but if like me you just want a knife that will function for everyday tasks then it's a good buy.

It's a nice light weight alternative to my Swiss champ
Exceptional knife, had this for a little over a year technically my second: after gifting the first to my father who carries it daily. Mine has been used extensively, everything from opening packing to splitting lead fishing weights, and always with me on dog walks. It's a nice light weight alternative to my Swiss champ, the blade is ultra Sharp; and easily maintained also alot thicker than other SAK's . When open the blade is almost as secure as a lock knife. The handle is fairly wide combined with the ribbed scales makes a nice grip. And I really just love the look of the knife the brass rivets are a nice touch, have a small collection of knives. And by far this is my favourite, functional, robust light weight and UK legal. Truly a life long companion, you won't be disappointed.
