Classic Spillane
Very poor Kindle version, with lousy chapter breaks. The story was more crudely worded in some parts than most of Spillane's writings, but the characters are classic Mickey Spillane. Worth having in my collection, and fun to reread now and again.

Substandard Spillane
After reading the Mike Hammer series, I expected the same quality of storytelling. What a letdown! The first half of the book is confusing and vague as to the main character's background and simply not up to the Spillane standard. Most disappointing!

Spillane at His Raunchiest
I'm a big fan of Spillane's 1950's Mike Hammer series and even of his books about Tiger Mann, Morgan the Raider, Ryan the Hood. But Dogeron Kelly? What a second-stringer! I had heard "The Erection Set" was the Mick's most graphic novel. Whoever said that couldn't have been referring to the action in or out of bed. It's got a lot of nasty language and quips about every kind of heterosexual copulation, but the best thing I can say about it is it's very easy to pick up and put down without losing your train of thought. Actually, if you ever wanted to see Mickey's ex-wife almost totally revealed, then the cover photo is the best thing I can say about it. I bought it to take with me on an airplane trip and it served its purpose --- it was better than utter tedium.

Another Page-Turner from Spillane.
This book has it all. Sex, Guns, murders and suspense. The plot has two great twists and will keep you looking for answers. It is a bit raw for a 1960 era mystery but is still enjoyable. Spillane not only lived New York, but his writing makes you feel like you are there and you can visualize the all the places the story takes you. Most of all this book will keep you up all night and into the morning.

Enjoyed the book enough to read it twice
Not Spillane’s most commonly known style, but Spillane none the less. Enjoyed the book enough to read it twice. Pure pulp fiction. Well worth it.

Dog Kelly is a likeable tough guy.
Great "tough guy" story. Lots of violence, lots of sex, lots of intrigue. If you're offended by raw language and the previously stated, don't bother. Otherwise, it's a fun read. Keep in mind when this book was written. You won't find cell phones or computers.

Very glad I bought this Kindle version of The Erection Set
I've been a Mickey Spillane fan for several decads now. I'm very glad Amazon is offering them in the Kindle form. The Kindleversion measures up to my expectations and again, like I was with several of the print versions, I was thrilled to read itagain. Full marks on this and the others I bought.

Erection Set
Sadly no longer with us. A favourite author of mine. I have enjoyed his novels over the years and this book is no different. If you like the bad guys getting their due desserts then Mickey Spillane is the writer for you. Recommended.

Wonderful.
I was disappointed there was no dust jacket, however the book was in reasonably good condition for its age but i was greatly surprised to find on opening the book a full page dedication including signature from Mickey Spillanes on the first page. Wonderful.

Spillane at his best.
I hadn't read this novel for 40 years, and revisiting it I was surprised by just how much of it I remembered. The original paper back had Spillanes then new wife Sheree on the cover, naked with one leg raised (erected). As wonderfully violent as the Mike Hammer series, Dogeron Kelly brought very riske sexual encounters, even by today's standards, into the equation.A great read and one which will be enjoyed by all broad minded admirers of the thriller genre.

Woeful. A 1940‘s novel set in the 1960's. Dreadful plot. Moronic characters. Decently the last Mickey Spillane book I will read. One star is one too many.

enjoyable if dated
The title says it all really. I struggled to follow the plot at times but frankly it was secondary to the bedroom action. All rather tongue in cheek but fun none the less.
