How can I be sure this "High End" item is genuine". we're talking hundred an ounce?

You actually can't tell. Amouage doesn't provide serial number on their bottles, so you can't verify the legitimacy of the product and when it was made. My experience was terrible. When you buy a bottle from the Amouage website or Luckyscent the packaging and bottle are flawless. Also, it comes with a message from Amouage saying how they guarantee the quality and it's signed by the employee who packed the bottle. You are not getting none of this buying from Amazon. My suggestion is that you spend a little bit more money and buy directly from Amouage.

The one I got was with the magnetic cap. I wear this frequently and smells great. I get a good 8-10 hours of excellent projection and can still smell it on my jacket for days
