Awesome house with amazing lifting power.
I needed to lift a large cumbersome attic ladder into place by myself. Originally I was going to use a simple pullers system but decided to try this hoist out. Man am I glad I did. This unit is extremely capable and works extremely smoothly and is very powerful. The safety shut off works flawlessly. You can double the cable and double the lifting capacity as advertised. When I tied off the attic ladder and put it to work it was great! It held the ladder in position until I secured it safely and then I released it from the ladder. I will use this hoist for lifting heavy equipment and large cabinets onto dollies...saving my back! There are some dead trees in the back yard and I will use this hoist to lift them and then relocate them for resewing. This is a well made tool and works great. If you need a hoist for the money this is a exceptional deal.

Best Of The Bunch!
I purchased this hoist to raise hay bales up to my hay loft and for maintenance chores in the shop. I am very satisfied with the construction of this machine and it compares much favorably over the lighter 220/440 lb. capacity models offered by others. This machine has a 440/880 lb capacity.Operation is smooth but like most the starts and stops are sudden. There is a positive brake so the cable will not slip and the overlimit device is well made, a steel loop and not plastic. The pendant (operating switch) is on a cord almost six feet long but if you need it longer you can wire it in yourself by getting a three? conductor SO cord* and make it longer. You should be careful to make sure your lift is straight since you want the cable to wrap properly. If the cable is allowed to bunch up on one side of the drum especially with a heavy load you will wear out the cable sooner. The instruction book is clear, the finish of the hoist is very good and the operation is sure and smooth. The hanger loops are made to fit a length of Unistrut type channel (PL-1000 or equal, I believe)This hoist performs the job very well.

Heavy duty
Very impressed with the solid feel of the hoist. Does the work without hesitation. Easy installation although the unit is heavy. I was able to do it by myself but suggest you have a friend to hold it while you bolt it to the track.

Was it worth it??
Well, I was shopping around for a hoist for my attic. I needed to have the ability to move loads in and out but not necessarily be a permanent fixture up there. I saw the Vevor branded ones and read the reviews, which showed a lot of product failures and poor customer support. I actually saw this one on a Youtube video highlighting it's abilities and the potential downsides. This is just my review, so by all means, do not take it as the gospel's word.PRO's:The price is reasonable for the amount of lifting power 400lbs single hooked/800lbs double-hooked.It is easily transportable and compact enough to not be a pain in the ass to position. The 120v 3 prong cord was long enough (with an extension cord) to reach where I needed. The overall construction is beefy and robust for the cost of the hoist.CON's:The control pedestal was very short (not a huge problem) but may be annoying to those needing to move bulky items while standing out of the way.The control only has one speed up and down, meaning you have to anticipate swing and drop more often when trying to position objects.Overall: The hoist is well put together and has mounting options for just about everybody. I used it to offload a couple of old hotwater heaters from the attic which was done relatively easy with this versus the alternative of smashing fingers and busting my ass trying to lower it down the attic stairs! The one speed control was a bit of a problem when the hook is close to the upper limit switch bar, as one little press will push it up and shut off the hoist (a problem I suspect alot of the negative reviewers to have and not realize). Just lower down a bit and it will reset the hoist. If you are looking for a lower cost hoist but do not want to chance it on a really lower price that will probably break(Vevor), then this Champion Power Equipment Hoist is right up your alley. I have other tasks I am going to use it for but I am satisfied with my purchase which is hard to say in this day and age of cheap knock-offs. Spend the $150 and feel better about a useful product.

Sturdy and heavy
I bought and installed the Champion 440# hoist to lift a heavy 14.5 canoe close to the ceiling in my garage. I wanted to be able to back my trailer (converted to hold a canoe and kayak) into the garage and then hoist the canoe up without doing the lifting myself (I'm over 60 and no longer interested in lifting heavy things over my head). It was admittedly a chore to install on the ceiling by myself due to it's weight and the lack of a ladder that was the optimum height. I ended up going into the attic and placing a 2x6 board and 5' length of unistrut ($18 for a ten foot section at a local electrical supply store) across the roof joists and drilling holes to the ceiling below. I used a half dozen 7" long bolts (3/8" inch) and washers/nuts to connect a similar sized piece of unistrut (the other half of the ten foot piece I cut in two) below. The trick was to leave a half inch gap and the bolt on the end out of the way so I could slip the hoist mounting brackets between the ceiling and the unistrut while I was perched precariously on the ladder (Yes, it would have been easier and safer to have a helper but I was without that day). I previously cut a slit in the ceiling and used a pulley/strap contraption inside the attic to lift and suspend the hoist close to the ceiling so I could slip it onto the unistrut from below and tighten the bolts afterwards. Before tightening, I slipped off the strap that was holding it up close to the ceiling. After tightening all the bolts and checking for safety, I attached some straps below and through the canoe thwarts and tried it out. Very smooth. I added a swivel ring so I could easily rotate the canoe and line it up the way I wanted (to avoid the garage door opener and ceiling fan). Just hope it lasts as many years as I want and need the canoe.
