Even our power-house dog won't break this one.
This is a very solidly built, sturdy harness. The leather is thick and well dressed. The riveting looks like it will hold up well to constant use. The bails and buckle tongues are heavy enough that they will not deform. Many harnesses we looked at warned, "Not for tie-out use" which is exactly what we wanted one for: intermittent 'outside time' on a long tether. This one is sturdy and secure enough to stand up to our 85# American Bulldog's 'gotta get the cat' charges. If it's fitted snug he can't pull or wiggle out of it. And it should last a good long time. Ours has been in use for a little over a month now and we've had no trouble with it.They do seem to run a little small. I measured Cochise as 31" around the chest and ordered the 30-35" size. It fits, but most of the straps are out at their last hole or two, Had he been 34" this would have been too small. Not necessarily a fault, just an FYI.My only complaint -- and this is a matter of aesthetics -- is that the light bails that should hold the strap ends down against the straps; don't. The result is that the strap ends stick out and can snag of stuff. The belly buckle is the one with excess strap and that curls down and looks goofy. I fixed it in place with an extra bail made of heavy black twist-tie material. The strap ends at the shoulder buckles stick up as well, but they're at the ends of the strap holes, so it's more a matter of looks than function. If the light bails that secure the strap ends here a little more snug, they would hold those "tails" down better. Fiddly bits.Overall we are quite happy with this harness and expect it to give it a good long service life.

Good quality at first, wears out quick.
My original review is below, however I am editing this because this recently broke. I had this harness less than a year and my almost 70lb lab/rottweiler mix broke this. If your dog wants something bad enough, I assume yours will too. The leather itself literally snapped. It broke between the D ring and the O ring on the harness where it connects to the strap that goes around the body. I didn't know leather could snap like that...however this is by far the best luck I have had with a harness yet... My advice is to keep an eye on that area of the harness because it does wear out on strong dogs. My dog is a shelter dog that doesn't like other dogs and saw a dog walking by and lunged when it broke...this is the only time my dog lunges like this and the whole reason I got this harness. It's a good product, but I guess no harness will be invincible. I should also add that since my dog has filled out in size, the bottom strap no longer slips loose.Strap underneath comes loose so I have to check it from time to time to make sure it has not come undone, dog seems not to mind this harness at all, she has very sensitive skin but no hair loss from this leather harness! Looks great and works great except for that bottom strap, I should also add that she is exactly 30" around so she is on the smaller side of this harness, so that may be why it slips sometime!

So far, so good!
I have gone thru soooo many different harnesses for my dog it is crazy. He is part lab and ridgeback and a very energic dog. He just turned 1 1/2 years old, and I can't count the number of harness we went through. This one seems to hold pretty darn good so far. All leather, with no filler inside. Very nice harness. Nice adjustments on it also. If you have a energic dog.....then you might want to try this one out.My dog learned how to get out of them by lowering his head, and stepping out of them when he wanted something bad enough. HAHA!!! This one I have to tell you, he tried to get out of it, and lol no luck. Joke is on him.

Don't use with tether.
We bought this because we have a Siberian Husky and we wanted to tether him in out backyard when he went outside (because he learned that he can hop our fence. He ripped the stitching on a regular harness. Long story short, the leather that runs straight along his back ended up ripping at the rivets. I don't think the harness is made to tether a dog, so that is why I gave it 3 stars. We still use it, but just rigged up two oval rings that we intertwined. We now put two harnesses on him at once.

80 pound Pitbull
Fits great and is very strong. Helps me control my 80 pound pitbull. Only reason it is not 5 star is because the bottom strap doesn't have a loop for the slack so its just drags and the floor and looks a bit sloppy. But still works very well and for the price I am happy with it

Not for dogs that are strong
my 75 lb boxer ripped this apart in 10 minutes, the ring between the collar and the back strap pulled apart, the the harness fell apart. After welding the ring so it would not separate, the boxer pulled the ring through the leather backstrap, and almost escaped again.the construction of this harness while it looks to be sturdy, it is not specifically the ring that connects the collar side straps to the back strap.that piece should be welded or something so that it won't spread apart letting the harness come apart when the dog pulls.

Love it! It makes easier to handle my pit in all occasions, mind you i'm a 5'0" chick so this says a lot. Also, the the leather quality is pretty good for the price their selling for.Its definitely heavy duty, and the buckling of the straps seem to be secured (yes I took it for a test drive with my 1yr old pup: walking and running averting all kinds of "obstacles" from random food on the ground to birds or cats)

After using this for a few months now, the strap loop on the top is starting to fray...the "belt" that goes under our dogs belly is unusually long and curls and drags on the ground, while it fits him in every other place. We have to rotate the pieces for even wear.
