I really am grateful to have purchased this book. Why? Because in this day and age, the last thing I want to be reading is something heavy - full of self recrimination, finger-pointing, blame. Or some new radical eating system. This book is simple, easy to read, full of life experience and just enough personal tidbits to make it fun. Also, I remember Liz Taylor's weight issues, and all of the hulabaloo about her appearance, so this is especially helpful to me personally because I can appreciate how she separates "image" from "self-image" and her overcoming the former's attendant issues as a child. I've had struggles with acceptance of my own appearance, and struggles with shrugging off the unhelpful eye-rolls, unfriendly advice, and unkind comments of others. Ms. Taylor's writing and triumphant return to her own comfort level with herself were inspiring and a good read. I have a nutritionist who wasn't this inspiring. Just a friendly nudge here, some common sense eating ideas, and some nuggets of wisdom from a legendary film icon. And the reminder that beauty is, in the words of her mother, "being content with your life, being connected to others, and taking some pride in your work" - however you manage to do this right now. Includes some good old recipes, some great photos, encouragement to get moving, words of wisdom from AA, and some great behind-the-scenes gossip. I bought my copy used, like new, and it was definitely money well spent.

Interesting Recipes & Exercises
This book surprised me, I bought it mainly out of curiosity.DIET: Approximately 1000 calorie a day diet, low fat, very low carb -- all you get is 2 bread exchanges a day, altho you do get some fruit, and zero protein for breakfast which would not agree with me. However, it reflects the rhythm of Liz Taylor's daily schedule and would be easy to rearrange to suit your own. Has both diet version and maintenance version.EXERCISE: Interesting mild toning exercises and I say interesting because Liz had back surgery and back trouble, so it shows what a person can do that can't do much. Her aerobics was swimming or aqua aerobics, but you can use your own.RECIPES: Very nice! I think this section is worth the price of the book.I loved the first section of the book where she detailed the physical demands and emotional factors that led to the weight gain, I think the majority of overweight people could find parallels in their own experience here.

My favourite diet book ever because it is by Elizabeth Taylor
This book is wonderful, because it has Elizabeth Taylor's thoughts on self esteem, being honest with yourself about your weight, plus anecdotes about her life and a very brief summary of each marriage. There's no way I could follow her diet which is low fat (dry toast, etc.), but she says each person should adapt it around what they like., and she basically lost weight by eating 1000 calories a day. It's just the way she writes that is so charming and real. And it is inspirational, showing that if you stick to it you can successfully lose weight. She lets us in on her own struggles with gaining and losing. I have read this book several times and I always find something new that speaks to me. I am now rewatching some of her films because the book inspires me so much.

Savor the flavor of Elizabeth Taylor
This is a great book for anyone who wants to learn more about Taylor in her own no-holds-barred style. The book is entertaining and informative, and lots of fun to read, which cannot be said about most weight loss books.

Very interesting reading
Loved every moment I read the book; very reader friendly. Elizabeth goes into detail on weight loss & management @ the appropriateness of looking right for your body type.
