Simple to install and perfect for a lidded storage ottoman.
The media could not be loaded. Cool gadget... I was looking for ways to lock up tools and electronics in a dorm room. Bought some ottomans and thought these looked much more fun than keyed locking hardware. Bought two sets to give it a shot. Each came with three cards and three fobs. Bought batteries (separately) set up the master fob and added the same to both locks. Very easy to program, I quickly added all cards and fobs to operate both locks. Once we played with those for a while we decided to install. There were no instructions but installation was very easy to figure out. The locks came with all the hardware needed for a full install. We used a drill with bit and chalk as the only tools. For the chest, we first found the height needed for the device. Then, installed the battery box to the side wall. Chalked the back of the piece that needed to attach to the lid. This gave us exactly where it needed to be to fit and lock. Tried it a few times to make sure we aligned it correct and then tightened it. Probably ten minutes or less to install with the most time just rechecking we had it in position. As a bonus the card and fob both work through the wood wall of the ottoman. My son put the card in his wallet and slid it next to it to unlock and worked every time. Bottom line, we didn’t have to drill through anything. One box came with a sticker to add on the outside as a target to know where to set your rifd device. But that would alert folks to the fact there is stuff in these. These have just been installed so I do not know about the life of the units... who knows we may be cursing these down the road, if they fail to open. So far so good.As far as how tight... my son was able to pick up the entire ottoman by grabbing the lid and the lock didn’t open. Completely loving the ease of install and adding a fun gadget to a boring ottoman that will be a dorm room foot locker.

Strong lock, not so strong motor
It came quickly enough and was exactly as advertised. Now to the specifics, it came with 3 cards and 3 key fobs. There is no reset button where the description said it would be (there’s just a hole with nothing in it) but as I powered the lock on it immediately beeped the “ready to pair” beep and I paired all the cards and fobs easily in the first try. In case of power outage (dead batteries and not plugged in) the lock WILL REMAIN LOCKED which is not an issue for me personally because I have it plugged in and run batteries as a backup and I can open the back of my cabinet to access inside in case of total power loss. But if you’re installing this on a cabinet that you can’t open otherwise, if your batteries die and it is not plugged in, you will have to break the door to open it up. I have this installed on a vertically sliding down door which means when I close the cabinet door, the weight of the door is on the lock. The sliding (drop down) door weighs about 20lbs. The lock is strong enough to hold the door perfectly shut but the motor is not strong enough to unlock while the weight of the door is on the lock, meaning I have to push the door upward to take the weight off the lock enough for the motor to unlock. Other than that I have not had any issues with it so far. Key cards and fobs work perfectly and it does hold secure. Installation was easy for me because I had easy access to the application area from the back of the cabinet but it may be a bit more difficult to align the lock with the tongue perfectly because the lock itself has to be raised just a tiny bit for the tongue to go in the lock smoothly, meaning if you place both the lock and the tongue on a flat surface the tongue will not go in easily. In that case you can use some shims, it may not look pretty but it will work.

DO NOT BUY THIS BRAND!!
UPDATE: Since these are still somehow for sale, I thought they HAD to fix the squared-off pin problem. I ordered a small sample (just 10 locks) and every single one of them is still un-tapered and completely useless. The only conceivable way this lock works is if you use it on a drawer (because the engagement is straight on). If you somehow manage to get this squared-off locking pin to engage on a hinged door, don't breathe on it because there's zero margin for error. Trust me, as someone who has installed over 1,000 locks that look exactly like this, DO NOT BUY this brand. Everyone else tapers the locking pin and they all engage perfectly. Plenty of other options here on Amazon. Side note... This is why you should always buy stuff from Amazon. Returning this steaming pile of garbage was, as always, fast and easy. I've already ordered 40 Wooch brand locks to replace these, and I know those will be good because they always are.(Original review)I purchase and install more than 500 of these locks each year, and all I want is for them to STOP CUTTING CORNERS. Every time I find a brand that seems to work, they change something and make my life miserable. This brand was great, with strong RFID fobs and nice packaging. But my latest order, totaling 90 locks, came with the locking pin not tapered. This makes the lock not only useless, but absolutely infuriating to work with. Without a taper, the pin just hangs up on the latch and instead of the lock engaging, you just get a solid THUNK of metal-on-metal.The fix is simple, but a massive waste of time. I've had to disassemble every freaking one of these and file down the edges of the pin, then rebuild the lock before I can install them. The fix works, but more than triples my install time.I would have sent all 90 of these back, but I desperately needed locks and I don't know who else to trust.2 stars despite this idiocy because, side from this one issue these are the best I've found so far. Scratch that, there's another one, white with an external power jack, that is far better, but more expensive.I would buy hundreds of these at once if someone could just guarantee I'd get locks that actually work.
