Eye-opener.
This should be mandatory for anyone born in the Americas especially United States. As a black man, I found it extremely fascinating to see the incredibly beautiful and tragic side of the history of Latin America and how the country I live in has rarely helped its neighbors to thrive. I can't help but think to myself, how can you even have any opinion on US-Latin American relations if you have not read this book?? It's absolutely essential. Everything else is just what the US government propaganda machine wants you to believe about our Latin American neighbors. At least we finally reopened our embassy in Cuba. That's the least we can do and my prayer is that Mercosur will be as strong as the EU to really provide a counterbalance to the overpowered United States. My only request to the author is this: Can you please make a book like this for Africa, too? Its modern history has not been summarized like this yet.

Not your old school textbook
This 'textbook' uses a problem-based structure that asks readers to critically analyze the information presented as opposed to simply being a book on the history of Latin America. I highly recommend purchasing this book.

Great pens
Love these pens. Don't bleed through though darker colors can be seen on back of page. Still great and the colors are amazing. A couple colors are different than the cap color (light purple is actually really dark). To me of the darker colors are so dark they look black. Wish they had more pastel colors. But overall good buy.

Enlightening
I appreciate the perspective from different historians and experiences of the people. It is at times difficult to read but nonetheless it is very enlightening.
