This type of rolling pin is for making Springerle biscuits (cookies). This one is laser cut, so it is a little shallow, but deeper than many others. It did work for what I needed.Springerle is a German specialty cookie, if you don't know what it is, you can look for a recipe online. You make them using a mold press or a pin like this one.You can find hand carved ones, but not at this price.You have to use cold dough and roll it out with a regular pin first. This one is just to put the impression after you roll it out.You also need to cut out the cookies, and put them on a pan and let them dry for at least 12 hours before baking to keep the impression looking really nice. You can bake them right away, but you will have to look close to see the impression.
