Awesome watch
Bought almost this same exact model (MTG-900) over 14 years ago in Hawaii when my previous G-Shock with the black plastic/rubber watch band was lost to the Pacific ocean. I have to be wearing a watch. Have since I was a 10 or 12 year old. So I went to Costco to see what they had and that was the closest I could get to what I had. Was not happy about the stainless band. Had never had a metal band before but it was only $70 and was a G-Shock.Would probably never go back to any other band. Slip it on and close the clasp and ready to go. It has never worn out/broken like the black plastic ones do. The watch itself is awesome. The only reason I bought this as a replacment was that the luminescent back light was not staying on when the button was pushed. It would blink on and off really quickly. Thought maybe it was dying and then got the idea to replace the battery, which I had never had to do up to that point. After all, it is solar powered. Anyways, all it was was a dead battery (which is a rechargable CTL1616 watch battery). The solar power is what recharges/keeps it charged. After 14 years it could no longer keep a charge or fully charge (there is a little 3 segment display on the watch indicating level of charge which I had never even noticed or payed attention to). Replaced the battery and did a lot of cleaning of all the rubber and chrome pieces and it is almost like new. Now I have a spare watch for when this thing actually does die permanently.I have never had to worry about keeping it charged or anything like that (never even noticed that there was a gauge), although I have always worn short sleeve shirts and I am in the Sonoran desert after all, which probably helps. Love the atomic time keeping function which works great in my locale. Place the watch on the window sill each night and I have 100% accurate time all the time. The LCD is highly visible at all angles unlike some watches that have matrixed LCD displays. 14 years and barely any visible scratches on the crystal. Has all the features I need. Some reviews complained that the LCD characters are too small but I am 61 years old and use reading glasses and I can see the characters without those so they are big enough for me.This will probably be the watch I will be wearing when I die and there is a good chance I'll never need this spare. The fact that they are making this exact same watch (essentially) for at least more than 14 years tells you all you need to know.

Atomic/Solar works even at Caribean Islands.
This is a review after 2 months of use. I was happy when I bought it and still v.v. happy! The main reason for purchasing it was Atomic and Solar features.First, to clarify, there are MTGM900DA ($~145) and MTG900DA ($~ 95.) MTGM is a new model that did a way with Time Memory function but instead has Timer. I have more use for the Timer than Time Memory; Time Memory is good for people who wants to know exact time of an event they want to remember, for e.g. what time did I clock in, or exactly what time did I take medicine, etc.Atomic Time calibration - no problem. It calibrated automatically every night.Solar battery - just leave the watch by the window once in awhile. Mine stays `full' charge all the time.Weight & Appearance - it is substantial and bulky. I am 5'6" 147 lb but I actually like the weight; feel like I am wearing something. It has shinny stainless steel bezel and noticeable; it does not look cheap. It also can be worn as a dress and sport watch, however it is not a good idea to wear it during construction, etc; it will scratch.Band - I easily removed 4 links with jeweler's screwdriver. If you want to, you can take it to a jeweler and pay few dollars. This stainless steel band will last a long time. Identical replacement costs $40 at Amazon. One way to last the closure mechanism longer is not to click to closure but instead first push & open the latch and insert the prong into the place then let the latch go. This might not be much, but in long run, it will minimize the wearing out the round head of the closure prong.World Time - I travel to Dominican Republic a lot and they do not observe DST and this watch does not have their city code. I can manually change the hour and turn off Receiving (RC) function so that it does not calibrate back to my home city. Or I can set the World Time to Santiago, Chile (SCL) and turn off DST.Here are some cons:4 Buttons - they are made of rigid hard plastic and they will break one day. They should be made of softer rubber or something else to make them more pliable. You have to be deliberate to push those buttons but DONT DIG INTO those buttons too much!Link between watch and band - is made of some kind of alloy. This is another weak point that can break one day, especially the hole where the pins sit. It should be made of stainless steel.Battery - nothing lasts forever. The solar battery can be replaced, hopefully after 10 years of use.I am very pleased with this watch after going through several & several watches in my life. I just hope this lasts.Addendum review after 8 months:Still good! Love it.1. I thought DST was automatic but you still have to manually set it to on or auto.2. To synchronize, it does not have to be by windows; I leave it on my kitchen table which is 15 feet away from window and it works.addendum review after 1 year:1. DST does work at 'auto' setting. You set it to 'auto' and it switches automatically.2. It syncs even in Caribean Island (Dominican Republic).addendum review after 2 years:I must really like this watch returning here after 2 years of use. It is still going and no problem. The batter is fully charged. No water leak. :-))addendum after 8 years:I love this watch so much.... I can keep updating this review. I still haven't replaced the battery. It still has full charge. It is supposed to last about 10 years but will see. Everything works perfect, the world time, atomic time correction and the solar recharge function. I carry this watch all over over-sea and works perfectly. I am 63 years old and I started with Bulova watch at 7th grade all the way up to expensive fancy Wittnauer watch. This is the best functioning watch. I don't need to impress anyone with a watch and this one is absolutely perfect care free watch.
