Outstanding introduction to nutritional psychiatry
Although written for the layman, mental health professionals will also find this book to be very informative. It is the best summary available of recent research on the role of diet in the prevention and treatment of mental disorders, a field that has come to be known as “nutritional psychiatry.” The author is an Australian nutritional epidemiologist who is one of the leading researchers in this field and has prepared a very informative summary of research conducted in the past decade

My Introduction to Nutritional Psychiatry
Professor Jacka's book BRAIN CHANGER, introduced me to the term, "nutritional psychiatry". I am encouraged to learn of the many studies conducted seeking to co-relate diet to mental health. Her book focuses on foods, not supplements and all studies are leading to the superiority of a plant-based Mediterranean diet. A newly published book, THE BETTER BRAIN by Bonnie Kaplan discussed research on diet, again concluding the best choice is Mediterranean diet - and, uniquely offers up much research of the past 20 years on the role of broad-spectrum micronutrient supplementation - this, I have not seen before and addresses so much of the confusing around the role of supplements in mental health.

The most significant book I have read
I LOVE this book! Not only is it filled with facts and suggestions backed by actual scientific data but it's written in a way thats easy to read (My dyslexia affects my processing of sentances etc, phew!).I'm a 32 y/o male, and have been dealing with the sticky black inkiness of depression since 25. Today I called my mum to tell her that for the first time in 7 years, I felt like my depression had gone into remission.I've only been following the information from this book and acting upon it within the last 2 weeks.Prior to that I was consuming 90% processed foods, over eating, and on one occasion put myself in hospital from actually eating so much crap I tore a hole in my stomach. I've suffered from addiction by a means of escape from depression in many forms. Two years ago I managed to quit a 15 year smoking habit, earlier this year I kicked a 4 year cannabis relationship and now I feel like ive taken control of my food addiction.Thank you, you've given me my life back. While I am proud of myself, I'm also incredibly proud of the author, Prof Felice Jacka - the work her and the team have been doing needs to be a focus point in western media.Thank you X

All went well with this seller
This seller delivered the book as promised. The book was true to the science it is based on with helpful advice on improving the diet. The only thing I found (slightly) annoying was the author's personal anecdotes. However, she accurately reports the science linking diet and mental health. She doesn't inflate claims, defines terms, such as association and causation, and clearly differentiates study limitations. Her tone is friendly, yet professional, making it easy for lay people to understand the research.

Valid Nutritional research
Felice Jacka has undertaken extensive world research in identifying the evolution and complexities of the food industry since the 20th Century. She reveals the toxic nature of the food industry and what we can do about in in terms of taking control of one's own health and wellness. She is a valued mainstream health advocate who recommends and provides examples relevant to this current decade's research, that is, in recommending in particular, the Mediterranean diet. Thank you for your efforts and personal input. Miriam, PhD, Perth Western Australia.
