I am the author of this book and overall I am happy with it. However, there are some ERRORS that need to be known. I asked the publisher to insert an errata in the book but I don't think it was ever done. Hopefully with the e-version there is. So, for those of you who own the book, or buy the book, please note:Page 34- Maps 2 and 3 have been transposed . Map 2 caption should read “Distribution of paleotropical woody bamboos.” Map 3 caption should read “Distribution of all woody bamboos.”Page 65- Sixth line should read “When such characters began to be developed some four million thousand years ago, the pictographs drew from everyday life.”Page 155- Timeline. 1903 should read “Edmund Ernest “Chinese” Wilson discovers ‘umbrella bamboo’ in the wilds of China and names the species after his daughter Muriel.”Page 176- Photo Acknowledgements, should read Susanne Lewis Lucas: pp. 61,66,73,104.

Beautiful Book
I know something about bamboo that's why I purchased this book. Susanne knows a LOT about bamboo. Very informative and the pictures are great. With Christmas almost here I haven't had enough time to sit and read. I can't wait. I would highly recommend this to anyone interested in Bamboo. Susanne is the expert!

Good, not great
Well researched and covers a broad range of topics regarding bamboo. I wish it had spent more time on the history of bamboo and its impact on industry. Also, numerous typos were distracting.

Wonderful Background about Bamboo
About 3/5ths through book and I am enjoying it. Excellent amount of history. I now want to start growing bamboo.

Buena lectura rápida
Compré este libro porque quería aprender un poco del bamboo ya que 'anda de moda'.Me gustó mucho... te da una idea general del bamboo, sus especies, orígenes, usos históricos, etc. Además, tiene imágenes muy buenas.Si quieres una lectura 'light' para conocer un poco más sobre el bamboo, éste es tu libro.Gracias!

Excelente libro, aborda los temas adecuados para conocer los bambúes, sin duda muy buen libro y un gran aporte para el mundo de los bambúes.
