Wonderful Book for Young Minds
I bought this as a gift for a 1st grader who is fascinated by the Titanic. He absolutely adores it and his mother told me that he is always looking at the pictures. What I like about this book is that it is filled with wonderfully drawn pictures and even has some photographs. There are some silly things happening in the pictures that children love to look at like the non-graphic drawings of a man reading on the toilet or people sleeping when they should be working. The illustrators are also great with drawing cut-aways of the ship so we can see what is happening on the ship and how it was set up.An interesting feature of this book is that from the beginning of construction to when the ship goes underwater, there is a calendar in the upper left corner of the page to show the progress of the ship's timeline, the calendar changes to a clock on the 11th of April 1912 and shows the incidents happening on the ship in correlation to the time. With so many pictures, it is easy for young and old readers to become enthralled with this book. The reading level is for grade-schoolers, but does a wonderful job of conveying information of and insight into the tragedy.

The Story of the Titanic
Love this book. I’ve read so many books on the Tiranic. I actually had a relative on both sides of my family serving as crew members on that grand ship. Unfortunately, neither of them survived.

interesting and not maudlin
Gives a lot of information about the ship, the passengers and the sinking. It is not maudlin or scary. Has a Find Aldo" type of activity on every page.

Detailed illustrations
I admit to this book being an impulse buy. I saw the cover. It oddly deeply stirred me. Without looking at anything but its front cover, I added it to my cart.So I was initially taken aback by it being a thin book of pertinent details about the ship, before and after passengers boarded, and everything that happened before, during and after Tiantic collided with the iceberg. The illustrations are wonderful detailed visual aids of the information provided on each page. The artist threw in a few funny detailing. There's also a couple that are small inaccuracies—I'm going to leave them unidentified for fellow enthusiasts to find. It's a fun, well done book, that I'm glad I bought and added to my book collection.**9/21/23: I have added a few photos. Hope they're helpful.
