Bear Bag, Rock Sock & Ropes
The Selkirk Bear Bag system served me well on a recent backpacking trip on the Pinhoti Trail. The two rope system worked like a charm and the whole package was light weight and small, making it ideal for backpacking. Kept my food dry and secure.

Worked great!!
Had a homemade setup but got this. If you are ultralight you might want to do your own thing but if you can have a few more ounces of weight to help with convenience this is a good buy. Used 5x now, nice setup but like I said nothing really magic about it, just packaged well.

Kept the critters out of my food
I purchased this for a backpacking trip I took to the highest peak in Utah. I really liked how light-weight this food bag is. Compared to other hanging bags I've had, you hardly feel like you're carrying anything additional. It comes with everything you need including a couple of carabiners and bright colored cordage to keep you from accidentally tripping over it. The bag has instructions on how to rig it up as a pulley system, though I didn't bother with that and just hoisted it up.Some cons for this system is that it's just a nylon bag so it's not going to keep your food dry if it should rain. We had dehydrated meals and dry weather so it wasn't an issue but that's something to keep under consideration. The other thing that was a challenge was that it was smaller than I was expecting and so not all of our food fit in the bag for our 3 day trip (3 people). Luckily with the food we'd already eaten our first day, we were barely able to get the rest in but it was pretty tight.Again, this is nylon so if a bear were to get ahold of it, it wouldn't keep them from getting the food inside but if hung correctly that shouldn't be an issue.Overall, this was a good purchase for me. If you take into account that it's not waterproof and the size of the bag, it should do what you need it to.

Tote-ally Worth It
Easy to use and effective. Bike-packing Eastern US and shared my hung food with fellow biker after all his food stolen by raccoons at night. Didn’t hang my lilac scented wet wipes and raccoons stole that. Guess they needed to wipe their hands after eating all his food.

OK for Beginners, Not Necessary for Experienced or UL Backpackers
This kit is everything a beginner would need to hang a bear bag. The carabiners are decent, the cord is strong, and the rock sack is super easy to use. Used this kit on two backpacking trips this past summer and fall (3-nights and a 2-nights, respectively) to hang my bag as well as a friend's just to see how it would do.--THE ROPE: The rope is easy to see at dusk (neon green and neon orange), which I appreciated, but it's really just your typical paracord.--THE BAG: The gray food bag itself is a tall, narrow, roll-top cylinder, so if I'm out for more than 3 nights or if I'm using with an Opsak (which will fit inside), it's a tight fit, but you don't have to use this food bag -- use whichever size/brand you prefer. Please note this is NOT an odor-proof or water-proof bag. If you hang your food and it rains, the contents will be soaked.--THE ROCKSOK: Typically, I just use a rock wrapped in a bandana to get my bear bang hung, and that's the method I've returned to -- saves a few ounces. It works as intended, it's just not necessary for me. My 9-year-old daughter likes it, though, and has used it to learn how to hang a bear bag.--THE 2-to-1 PULLEY SYSTEM THING: I really don't understand all the 2-to-1 pulley system stuff, either. I didn't find this any easier than any of the other hang kits/rope/carabiners I've used in the past. If you're fresh out of town and your food bag is full, it's gonna be heavy to lift and require a good bit of force. I didn't find this "method" any easier or harder than any other bear hang.Overall, if you're in need of an all-in-one bear bag kit, or getting something for a beginner, this'll do. It works as promised. But it's a bit overpriced for what it is and unnecessary for an experienced backpacker.

Make sure you check to see if you received all the pieces.
I received the product without the bear bag. I requested a replacement and received all pieces the next day.Make sure you check to see if you have all the pieces before you leave for your trip.

Kept me safe in grizz country
Pictures are accurate and they kept me safe in Idaho in grizz country. Being able to tie your food up is the difference in life and death out there. This will be the best camping money you spend if there are bears out there. If you back country hunt do not leave without one of these!
