Follow Father Mike Schmitz on Hallow, Bible in a year
I recently had a one-on-one with God. Feb 1, 2024 to be exact. I was on my death bed (AGAIN) and while lucid, I heard clearly as if he were standing beside me... "I'm not done with you". And... "How many times do I have to do this for you." And the next day, fever (104ish) broke, and i was out of ICU after a few more days. I stumbled upon the CHOSEN ( It's fantastic, every Christian or even non-practitioner who wants to know more about Jesus should watch it), and through the main actor, John Roumie, I found Father Mike Schmitz on the "Hallow App". There's a program called "Bible in a year" podcast there on Hallow and on Ascension app. This is the bible he uses, and it's very easy to study from. I bought the chapter tabs and installed them too. Great looking and useful Bible for those who desire to KNOW. God bless.

Current printing is MUCH better than the original!
In the early printings of the Great Adventure Catholic Bible, the pages were clearly glued--though the description stated that it was sewn and glued. I had bought one of the early printings, and sections started falling out within the first year. Granted, as a Catholic Priest, I use my Bible regularly. So, it got worn out more quickly. I was reticent to rebuy it until I saw the newer printings, which clearly seem to be sewn. The signatures are clearly visible, and the Bible opens very easily and lays flat all throughout. This isn't a study-Bible by any means, but (in my opinion) it presents the clearest introduction to Sacred Scripture and covenant-history for Christians. I love the translation (RSV-2CE), and I use it alongside the Douay-Rheims (for traditional Vulgate and Septuagint renderings). The translation is from the same manuscripts as the RSV (Stuttgart Hebrew and Nestle-Aland 17), but, in accordance with Liturgiam Authenticam, the RSV Second Catholic Edition will always default to Septuagint/Vulgate OT and Vulgate NT renderings when there are multiple translation options. So, all the "Catholic" boxes are checked ("Virgin" rather than "young woman," "Full of grace" rather than "highly favored one," etc.). The RSV-2CE, to me, seems to strike the best balance of traditional renderings, beautiful language, and critical excellence, which is very hard to do otherwise. Every translation has deficiencies, but the RSV-2CE has very few for the faithful Catholic. It's about the next best thing to a modernized Douay-Rheims.And yes, there are cheaper versions of the RSV-2CE in print. HOWEVER, this printing is formatted is such a way that I really love reading it. Ignatius Press has a cheaper RSV-2CE, but it uses a cream-colored paper that, to me, is extremely difficult to look at for long periods without feeling eye-strain. The Great Adventure Bible has a great contrast between the white pages (NOT gilded) and dark black print, there is minimal ghosting, and the margins are wide enough to ensure that text isn't lost inside the seam. I grew up Protestant (NKJV, primarily), so having Our Lord's words in red was a nostalgic bonus for me!So long as you're getting one of the newer printings, I HIGHLY recommend the INVESTMENT of the Great Adventure Catholic Bible. It's not cheap, but I can't think of a better Catholic Bible currently on the market. And, you know what? Who doesn't love a floppy blue Bible!

. Great adventure Bible
Hey, I've been using The Great Adventure Catholic Bible and here are my thoughts:### Pros:1. **Color-Coding System:** The color-coding system is fantastic. It divides the Bible into twelve time periods, making it much easier to follow the story of salvation history.2. **Readable Layout:** The text is clear and easy to read, with a well-organized layout. The pages are sturdy and high-quality.3. **Study Tools:** There are plenty of helpful tools like timelines, maps, and detailed commentary. The introductions to each book provide valuable historical and cultural context.4. **Spiritual Growth:** This Bible includes reflective essays and questions that help deepen your spiritual life and encourage personal meditation.### Cons:1. **Price:** It's a bit expensive compared to other Bibles. The extra features are great, but it might be a stretch if you’re on a tight budget.2. **Size and Weight:** This Bible is quite large and heavy, making it less portable. It's better suited for home study rather than being carried around.3. **Binding Quality:** Some users have reported issues with the binding coming loose over time, which is disappointing given the cost.### Overall:The Great Adventure Catholic Bible is a wonderful resource if you’re serious about studying Scripture. It’s full of features that enhance understanding and spiritual growth. Despite the higher price and size, it’s a valuable addition to your spiritual journey.
