Cuts circles with ease, but re-setting is more difficult
The steel block and cutting inserts come well lubricated with a rubber storage mat. To insert the handle, remove the central nut (a metric 17) and insert the handle. If you would rather not have the handle in the way, use a nut driver or ratchet wrench on the nut and forgo the handle. If you find that the cutting circles are too close to the alignment pins or springs, use the nut instead of the handle. The purpose of the tightening system is to clamp down your metal sheet so that it doesn't move. A slight turn of the handle usually brings it out of the way of the hammer. The assembly comes very well lubricated. Resist the urge to wipe off the oil. The lubrication will help the cutting cylinder slide down the precisely fitted hole and make your job much more easy.My first use with this product was on wavy-textured, work-hardened 24 gauge (0.51mm) brass. I selected the largest cutter, the 1.25 inch circle. I am a relatively weak person. No, I am a very weak person. I used the handle to clamp down my metal sheet. This was more than sufficient. I placed the assembly on a thick piece of vulcanized rubber. Although I'm not strong, it took me no more than 12 blows with a standard hammer to cut out the brass circle beautifully. Because I was cutting such a thick, hardened metal, I paused once or twice to remove the swarf from the inside. I plan to buy a brass hammer in the future in order to protect the steel cutting cylinder's head.I found that cutting was the easy part, re-setting the cutter was much more difficult. As tempting as it may be, never hit the cutting (non-beveled) side of the cylinder. I loosened the assembly enough so that my metal sheet rotated freely. I made sure it was not in the way of the springs or alignment cylinders. I found that the easiest way for me, a weakling, was to hit the cutting cylinder through to the other side of the assembly. The last few part could be pushed with my thumbs. Removing the cutting cylinder to re-set the cutter was by far the most difficult part of the task. This may be because I am weak, but I don't think the problem is any different with any other type of disc cutter. The metal I first used was work-hardened into a wavy texture. The process of cutting did indeed flatten the circle somewhat. If you intend to keep a textured circle, make the pattern deeper than desired. The options on this circle disc cutter align well with my dapping block. Curving or raising patterns in discs is easy because of their uniformity.

Nice clean cutting
This is a sturdy set of punches that cut cleanly. I bought a cheaper set in the past and had to throw it out. It is important to use oil so the metal does not get stuck in the hole-punch. After texturizing sheets of copper and brass, I made beautiful earrings and lapel pins.

The 1" and 1-1/4" holes are located too close to the center plunger.
The 1" and 1-1/4" holes are located too close to the center plunger. This arrangement limits the use of this tool. To solve the above problem, you need to increase the tool diameter to at least 2/3 feet!

So far so good
I had one of those cheapo ( not so cheap) punches that was not adjustable and it was a PITA. I love that this one completely unscrews in case you can’t get your metal out. This one was the best deal I could find. The punches are machined well and work great. Everything was oiled and in good shape.

Quality Tool- Great Customer Service!
As a Jewelrymaking teacher, good tools are essential. This disc cutter tool from PMC Supplies LLC cuts clean uniform circle shapes from metal sheet. It offers variable circle diameters with coordinating die punches all organized neatly in a secure holder. The tool is solid, well made and comparable to the higher priced cutters on the market. I am quite satisfied to be able to add this disc cutter to my studio and classroom. I also received friendly and prompt customer service with any and all questions- now you can't beat that!
