Because so many gullible folk have been adversely influenced by the totally distorted review of a gloomy Cassandra I feel impelled to put some facts straight. Firstly the use of the emotive word “beware”. Which should never be used by any Amazon reviewer. Is he implying we are all so stupid we are going to fall into a horrible trap? In this case a trap which involves getting to hear every note of the movie’s music in excellent sound - including two great dance sequences (sans vocals) which for many of us were the most memorable contributions of choreographer Michael Kidd to the movie version.Why also be so petty about the excellent booklet inside a glossy jacket - dispensing with the usual cheap jewel box? For some reason he fails to mention it has 3 erudite essays about the stage show, the movie and the composer. And contains every word of the lyrics. Plus great stills from the movie. And 3 posters! What more does he want?Spanish companies like Blue Moon and Lonehill have long been experts at getting great sound from old LP’s. In this case Blue Moon used this expertise to capture an entire movie soundtrack for the benefit of it’s frustrated admirers - who have waited 52 years for a first rate digital transcription. Lastly, they throw in 8 valuable bonus tracks.As for this being an unauthorized soundtrack one of the weird features of the beautifully packaged Rhino/MGM series is they are not true soundtracks. They only contain what was recorded in a studio. Thus the famous “Moses Supposes” sequence in “Singing in the rain” has no sound of tap dancing. Ditto the four tap dancing numbers in “Kiss Me Kate”. One has only to listen to the CBS Special Products version of these 2 MGM musicals to realize how much better they also sound with the addition of a few sentences of dialogue that usually precede each number. Which helps one to relive the film rather than get all studious about songs completely divorced from their context in the telling of the story..

The soundtrack lp for GUYS AND DOLLS was a mere 10 inch lp that quickly went out of production. Cast recordings of the show abound, so it wasn't particularly missed until it was re-released in a far more complete version a few years ago.The sound and performances are stellar, the booklet is full of info re the show and the film, and extras include songs from the OC album not included in the film, alternate songs not used, and rejected out takes. Great package!

If you love the movie, you will love this soundtrack. I see some debate in the reviews about the sound effects and some dialog before and during the songs. Since I bought this soundtrack to remind me of the movie I love I don't find this a negative. It puts me right in the place in the movie and sets the tone for the song. Since the songs make the story in musicals, I like the little bit of intro. The sound is good, the case is nice and has nice background information in the booklet. I was worried about buying the CD due to some of the negative reviews. I am glad I ignored them and bought it anyway.

Great purchase! I already owned the official U.S. soundtrack but it was missing some songs from the movie. I especially loved the Latin song/dance "A Woman In Love" missing from the standard release. Additionally included are songs from G&D's theater run which were thought to have not been strong enough for the cinematic version. This cd includes everything including an informative booklet giving you the history of this great play/movie. Could you have seen Gene Kelly as Sky Masterson? Or Marilyn Monroe as Adalaide? Bottom line - it's a great listening experience anytime you want it and you have ALL the movie soundtracks to sing along to!

This is my favorite musical of all time.I've waited patiently for this soundtrack and I'm thrilled that it's finally been made available.

It's a great soundtrack for the movie, high sound quality, great songs, everything you could want and more. I've been waiting a long time for this soundtrack and now I finally have it. Definitely a great purchase. You just can't match the performances given by Marlon Brando, Frank Sinatra, Vivian Blaine & Jean Simmons in this movie.The insert that accompanies the CD is a little odd, it seems to be written by someone who doesn't really like the movie very much, which makes you wonder why they were involved in writing the booklet.All in all, a great classic musical soundtrack.

We really like this movie in our house and watch it a few times every year. It is great to have a copy of the same music on mp3. I still prefer Sinatra singing "Luck be a Lady", but he doesn't in the movie (even though he did WANT that part instead of Nathan...and he is a great Nathan.) I think they did record these separately and not pull them directly from the film, because they are slightly different, but still the same arrangements and vocals.

This album is terrific. I would give it five stars, but there is an error in the recording of "If I Were A Bell" at 1:20. I'd love to have a copy of the album without the recording error.

Very fast international (stanndard) delivery, about a week.Decent sound quality and probably the best One could find in the market.The music lover should be satisfied . I recommend watching the film before deciding to buy this audio cd because most (almost all) of the tracks were extracted from the movie:)

This is a fantastic collection. The whole of the film soundtrack plus some extra treats. Speedy delivered. Great!

Favorite soundtrack from our favorite musical - we'd been looking for a CD for a while. The sound is clear and the bonus tracks are a nice addition.

A great musical with excellent songs.

This was wonderful. All the songs and more, plus the words and the background. However … Jean Simmons, if it was her singing, sounded a bit strident compared to her speaking voice. I suppose that was because I was looking at that beautiful face and the reserved demeanour. Just an observation. It is a great buy.
