A Well Deserved Challenge.
I'll go ahead and open up with a short "disclaimer" of sorts... I am not actually finished with this game, but, I am very close to finishing it and I have played a great majority of it (there are four disks total and I'm on disk three). Anyway, with that out of the way, I'll then say that this game can be the uttermost frustrating and irritating thing that you can and/or will play. It will test your patience, make you rage, and challenge you in ways that you wouldn't even think of. Sometimes, it'll get "cheap" on you and just decide to dole out that little bit of extra "punishment"... just because it felt like it. And by all means, if you didn't bother to save at one of the very limited save points, then... too bad, you have to go through all of that which you have already done, all over again... so much so, that you will have memorized and learned the "correct" way to do things. *Ahem* What I'm essentially saying is... this is not an easy game. However, please don't let me (or what I have written here) discourage you from trying it out yourself, as it is a pretty enjoyable experience... despite the rather harsh difficulty curve. The game is well worth it and I intend to play (and maybe even review) the other two in this series as well.

For the true gamer
I played this game years ago on the playstation console and absolutely loved it. Now i have a ps2 and bought Fear Effect after all this time; I have no regrets. The storyline is well plotted and the game play is challenging, smooth, entertaining and makes you think therefore this game is not for the weak minded, impatient gamer. The fear meter is a much welcomed attribute which adds a bit of reality and challenge as opposed to the traditional health bar and the ability to play with 3 different characters throughout the plot makes it a fascinating journey.I label Fear effect as a game only a true gamer can appreciate, so if you are all about quick play, easy gaming and have little ability or desire to use a bit of brain power then this game is not for you but if you're up for challenges, are patient and possess appreciation for this type of experience then its definitely a good buy.

AND I THOUGHT TOMB RAIDER WAS THE BEST
I loved this game and so far have found it to be the best most original game I ever played. I loved Tomb Raider and thought it was the best until I found FE. The cinematic graphics and being able to play with multiple characters at any given moment was great and very smooth. This game kept me on my toes. The weapons and saves were plentiful. I can't imagine why more games are created using the same type of graphics. The game play was short but in my humble opinion that's b/c I couldn't put it down, the story line was so interesting. Definitely not a game for children.I hope Eidos comes out with a part 3 and I can't wait to play part 2.The one downfall about gaming are the female characters are always half dressed! Maybe the designers need a girl friend but PUT SOME CLOTHES ON THESE WOMEN.

Fear it again!
I was looking for this game for the longest time! Finally I found it! Players out there, looking to know what a great Action Game is all about, look no further. Fear Effect change the way of how I play video games. I was an all around player, and this game put Me exclusively on the action genre club forever. The graphics at the time were top notch, the game play, amazing, the story was edgy. The main character was on par with Lara Croft, even better, the story drove her to places that Lara did not want to tackle. Overall, it is a great experience that no action gamer should miss. HIGHEST POSSIBLE RECOMMENDATION! Let the Fear begin...

One of the best!
First off this game is by all means one of the greatest IP's off all time and it along with its sequel are amazing. The first two fear effect games are a great way to start off before the new Fear Effect Sedna game drops. You'll get tonkbow all the characters and be ready for another great adventure! Anyone who's anyone should give this game a try and not to mention all my discs were mint condition!

This might have been a game I would have liked better if I had gotten it in the 90's
This might have been a game I would have liked better if I had gotten it in the 90's. I remember seeing advertisements for the sequel Fear Effect 2 and never getting the game so years later I decided to try the first game out of the franchise. This game has tank controls much like the ones in resident evil and a pretty confusing movement system overall. Also the camera doesn't help much either. But I will take into consideration that games are just so far removed from tank controls that the game became more annoying to me because I was trying to adapt. I would still probably get the sequel at some point, I just was not digging this.

An innovative classic that is still fun after 20 years
Fun, innovative game for its time with a great story that holds up today. I loved it! I played it on my PS3 console. I recommend it in 2017 if you play classic games.
