Doctors: A Novel Kindle Edition

Looks almost like a new book. Couldn’t even tell that it is second hand.

Excellent condition and prompt delivery.

While I enjoyed this third of Dr Segal's books, I'vve read, I found the editing disconcerting. While in the middle of a situation, the story makes abrupt changes to another set of characters without so much as a paragraph break, much less a sub-chapter. There were several typos as well, usually just the omission of a single letter of a word. Just before this novel, I had finished "The Class" which prompted another of Segals books. Having been a research scientist with several publications, I never experienced the cut-throat tactics described among co=researchers which were described. That said, I did enjoy the various lives and interactions presented.

As the heading states, it's a pretty good book. The only complaint I have is that there is no break in paragraphs when changing characters. This could be because it's an ebook , but it made reading it a little confusing and annoying. Also there are some spelling errors that are again the result of being an ebook.

The book is pretty good, a bit dated, of course, the ending seemed to be hurried and a bit odd. Since I worked in health care for many years, a lot of the medical parts of the story are somewhat unbelievable, buy hey its fiction! If I totally can't stand a book, I will not finish it, but I did read this one to the end. If you want a diversion but not too heavy of a read, this is a good one.

Very good read but it is so drawn out in the first 3/4 of the book then it is rushed at the end trying to tie the story lines and finish.

Full of honest empathy for the grueling peparation and pressures doctors endure, Segal's Doctors follows the personal and professional lives of several doctors who follow very different professional paths, and have to overcome difficult life challenges. What agonizing decisions each physician must make! We get to hear their personal struggles and witness the life and death consequences of their actions.

A good story. I would suggest paying attention to all the characters. I found myself getting a little lost and forgetting who was who as the story evolved.

I really enjoyed the storyline of this book and the characters. Also included an interesting comprehensive historical background. However in places it could get a bit over the top and pompous. I mean no 5 year old boy is going to want to read Latin and use a vocabulary most intellectual adults don't even use...i.e. " lubricated indefatigably" This made the book a bit hard to read in places (particularly when it got over-political) however I enjoyed the overall story, but maybe he tried to cram a bit too much information of very different topics in this book.

I was so excited to buy this as it was out of print for a while. And then it arrives like this. This is already the replacement because the first order did not arrive. Too much hassle to return for a refund. What a shame.

One of the best books I've ever read! in fact going to read it third time now. The book is for everyone really, you don't have to be a medical student, or a doctor. It gives a true inside into the profession. And if you're toying with the medicine idea, give it a go, it will shed a lot of light what will be ahead of you.Simply put, amazingly well written book. Barney & Laura love story is one thing, but Segal got really inside people's lives, how they struggle all the way - either during the study, or then during their medical profession.

I read this book 20 years ago, it was my Mum's book and I always wanted a copy. The book was sent promptly, and even though it wasnt in superb condition, it is an old book so understandable. I am happy with this purchase!
