Great little fan
Bought two of these to bring the warm air from my downstairs pellet stove to our next level bedroom. I was pleasantly surprised as they run nice and quiet and not overpowering I actually had to feel with my hand to verify they were running. I hooked them to a thermostat so they can be set to go on and off on demand. Installation was pretty easy but we did this while putting up new sheetrock on the ceiling. The grates seem to be of decent quality and the directions are straight forward. By the looks of it if anything ever happened and it needed repair parts it would be pretty easy to do without having to rip the ceiling out doing so. I'm happy with these.

Works as designed
Instructions were sketchy. Noise kevel is a nice white level in bedroom. Works as I anticipated. Makes a real difference when pellet stove is working keeping the furnace off.

Fan quality issues
Install was fairly easy. Connecting the wiring was simple but once the wire was connected it made it difficult to slide the unit in place. The real problem was the fan quality. It was noisy from the start, but by pressing the fan slightly away from the housing it was quite. This lasted only a week and now I am unable to adjust the fan so it will be quite. Getting a replacement hoping this is just a single quality issue since it appeared some of the housing connections were loose in my unit. Hoping the next one is better.Update: the replacement was relatively quite for about 3 months before suffering the same problem. The fan housing is poorly engineered and due to the vibration of the fan running appears to get out of balance over time causing loud noise to be produced. Don’t waste you money on this unit.

Tjernland Level to Level Aireshare Fan-75 CFM Model#ASLL
We have 28 foot ceilings in our upstairs and we were always cold; even with the oil heat up high.We purchased a pellet stove for our downstairs playroom; thinking that if we put in floor vents the heat would rise up and help heat our living area. This helped a little but did not do the trick. We read the review on this level to level fan and decieded to try it. It is the best thing we have done. Our living area is now warm and cozy and we are able to use the playroom without shuting the pellet stove off. This fan is fantastic and I would recommend it to anyone that is attemping to move heat from one floor to another.Thank you Tjernland for making such a remarkable fan.NixieWebster, NH

Was quiet.... for about 1 year
So far i've had this fan installed for a little over 1 year now, and it's been on almost 24/7. About 2 months ago it started getting noisy, and even after cleaning it, it only got worse. So i contacted Tjernlund customer service at about the 1 year mark, which is the warantee period. After some back and forth they agreed to send me a new motor assembly. I really expected this fan to last more than 1 year without wearing out, especially for the price they charge. I'll be looking at other fans to replace this one.

and the design is pretty ingenious. The fan can be used to move ...
We used this fan to move heat from our basement which has a wood stove to our main floor. The fan is very quiet, and the design is pretty ingenious. The fan can be used to move air either up or down, and the blower unit mates to a telescoping vent on the other side of the floor/ceiling to accommodate a variety of floor/ceiling depths. It was easy to install once we figured out how to "interpret" the instructions, because they're backwards. This was the only issue that prevented giving it a full 5-stars. For those that are purchasing one of these, I'll briefly try to explain the install and confusion that results from the instructions. From the product description and instructions, it sounds like the fan is bi-directional...that it can either push air or pull air depending on your need. In reality, the fan only moves air in one direction. For the cost, it should be bi-directional. To get it to move air "up", you have to install the blower unit in your ceiling and the vent extension in the floor. To get the fan to reverse directions to move air "down", you actually have to reverse the process and install the blower unit in your floor and vent extension in your ceiling. What "default airflow direction" refers to in the instructions is which side the on/off switch is attached. Out of the box, the switch and blower screen are attached to the blower unit. The instructions say this is the default for "up" airflow. This is backwards unless you're incredibly tall because you want the switch and protective blower grate in your floor, not your ceiling, and so your inclination will be to put the blower unit in the floor with the switch and blower guard in that orientation. This will move air "down", not up. To fix this, swear a few times and remove the blower unit from your floor. Here are the orientations you will want:The switch and blower grate always get installed in your floor. Blower motor goes in your ceiling to move air "up". This will require you to move the switch and floor grate to the vent extension. Blower motor goes in floor to move air "down". No re-wiring of switch and grate necessary.
