Effective and a Great Value for the Price
I bought this pack of alarms a couple months ago when I moved to a new apartment. It was robbed 2 weeks after I moved (through the fire escape window). The crooks stole thousands of dollars worth of things, but most of all, I felt so violated. I live in an older pre-war building in Queens NY, so I wasn't sure if a real alarm system would be cost-effective, plus I not even sure how long I'll be living there (and you need a landline, which I gave up years ago). With that said I purchased this package because I had the freedom to set my own 4 digit code for the door alarm. I thought this would be a good way to scare off any potential intruders if they broke in through the door or fire escape windows. They were easy to set up, the door alarm was easy to set as well. I originally had it set to the "chime" feature, but it was so obnoxiously loud. I knew my neighbors would not be happy with me if they had to hear it every time I came in and out of my apartment. The alarms are very loud as well. My boyfriend "accidentally" tested one of the window alarms one afternoon and it was loud enough for people on many floors to hear. I also like the option to set them on/off/chime so I have the freedom to open an alarmed window while I'm home. I feel a lot more comfortable leaving the apartment for long periods of time now that I have these.Learn from my misfortune! If you live in a city put these on windows that someone may have easy access to. Don't wait until something happens to buy them!

Really Happy With It
All I can say is WOW! This little wireless door alarm holds it's own! Yes it's very small and the plastic that it's made from is a bit cheap, but the easy way that you can program and arm it, and the loudness of the alarm from such a small cheap little thing is amazing! Even in chime mode it's still pretty loud, and even pushing the buttons to put in your code and arm the thing is loud. As a first line of defense this thing will definitely draw attention. It comes with 2 ways to attach (1) double sided tape or (2) screws. So far for me it was really easy to program my code and set up the alarm, the most important thing is to make sure that you have the alarm lined up with the magnet so that it works properly. Once the alarm is aligned with the receiver magnet, (at least in my case) it works like a dream. The price for this thing was crazy cheap and once you program it you have 30 seconds to open the door and close it before the system arms and a crazy loud alarm goes off. This is a really good first line defense because people will definitely hear it go off, and for the price it's pretty damn good. I'm really happy with it.UPDATE:A year and a half later, this alarm is still going strong. It's still as loud as ever, and I have moved twice since I originally bought this. This alarm still works great, and now I know that peace of mind only costs ten dollars.

Loud. But is it secure?
There's only so much you can expect from a stand-alone wireless door alarm device. Is it loud enough to wake you and your neighborhood. Yes, That it is. and just judging from the intensity and volume, it can be quite the deterrent. The alarm is easy enough to install, though the keypad being only 4 buttons only leaves you with enough combinations, but in the nick of things it should prove to be enough. Its easy enough to set up, the magnet can be screwed or stuck on with included double sided tape. However it also depends on what kind of door jam and border you have. My door jam had a rounded bezel at the edge which meant i had to either stick it on the rounded edge which wasn't very stable, or stick it a little farther away where it was flatter, only problem is then it wouldn't work because the magnet has to be less than half an inch from the edge of the alarm.Aside from those issues, the alarm does what it's supposed to. that is make a very loud noise. It has delayed alarm settings which gives you 45 sec from when you arm it, and enough time to leave the house. and 30 seconds when you re-enter to punch in the code before it goes off. So simple enough interface, works in instant mode as well, for when you're at home. and someone enters, the alarm goes of instantly with no delay. This instant mode can be switched to a door chime mode as well. but it is really loud even in door chime mode, and it does not come with a volume adjuster.Being standalone battery operated, the battery is rated to last a few months before it needs replacement. it will begin flashing when its running low. Also its small form factor allows it to be placed anywhere. I would recommended placing the alarm at an odd place where it would still work when the door is opened, but not be in the usual place where anyone can see or expect it easily. For those who cant afford a security subscription service, this works quite well as a basic deterrence. Within seconds of a break in it will blast a sound around 120db waking anyone in the vicinity, especially if its an apartment building, leaving the intruder no choice but to flee immediately. And that could be the difference.UPDATE: I've used this device for 2 years now, and only replaced the battery once very recently. So take form that what you will.

It does what it is purported to do. In my opinion, an excellent product.
Nothing to dislike. Very easy to install and very effective. I have installed the one with the code on the main door and one of the smaller ones on a window.
