Expensive but worth it.
It's pricey but smoking or cooking without it is to me impossible. It's main purpose for me is that it can pull off the conveggtor and the top grill with your meat on it all at the same time, with two handles so it makes adding more wood super simple. It's also great for putting your meat an inch from coals for a nice sear.

Elaborate Attempt to simulate two zone cooking
I own five Big Green Eggs. I also own at least ten other grills/smokers. I enjoy entertaining and cooking for my family. I am absolutely not a chef nor would I ever consider entering into a cooking contest. I own fancy ThermoWorks thermometers and when the temperature is right, the food is done. No judgment, no art, no presentation. Medium rare is 130 degrees and if you don’t agree, take your argument elsewhere.Given my collection of cookers, I am frequently asked, “which is the best?” My answer is always the same, “ it depends on what you want to use it for, but if you can only buy one and want the best all around smoker/ grill, then get a Big Green Egg.”Now, to candidly evaluate this product. First, it is grossly overpriced. Unfortunately, the BGE people have decided to charge super premium prices for their accessories. (I am guessing private equity at work here.)Second, this is an elaborate attempt to capture the two zone cooking rage. Unfortunately, while the BGE is a fantastic product, it is just not made for two zone cooking. At the end of the day, it is a convection oven and the inside is going to reach a stable temperature throughout the dome no matter where the charcoal is. These brackets will help you simulate two zone cooking. But, if you want to do that, you can get a small grill at your hardware store for less than this bracket set.
