Perfect drop-in for most old typewriters. Nice ink, and work fantastic for my old Remington-Rand. Those reviews about not fitting Remington typewriters are NOT FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS. They fit great, you just need to pop out the internal adapter, which is clearly laid out in countless forums, instructions, and youtube tutorials. It's even in Remington manuals, generations of people have been using typewriter ribbons, and nothing has changed in 50 years.

It took me about 15 minutes to figure out how to put this into my 100 year old Underwood typewriter (only because I'm 26 and never saw one before), but the ribbon went in no problem, they turn on each key stroke and the quality is dark and clear. I am very pleased with this product and would certainly order another as soon as my first ribbon is near to running out. It's kind of mind blowing that in this day and age we have so much technological wonder when it comes to creating. Using something mechanical like an old typewriter has this very real feeling as you hit each key (and put your arm into it I might add). Call me a hipster or a dork, but I love using this on my Underwood typewriter.

Works well

This is the second time I have purchased this item. The previous spool and this one fit my Olympia SM3 pefectly and the grommet allows the self-reversing mechanism to work as intended. The only down side to this product is that it is a nylon ribbon so the type is lighter than using a cotton ribbon. Not a result of poor construction or not enough ink, just a function of the type of material. The previous spool lasted awhile, but did eventually dry out. I am hopeful that replacement spools will continue to be available for the forseeable future. Recommend to anyone who is in need of a vintage typewriter spool.

I bought three of these to bring three beautiful old clunkers back to life: a 1950s Optima Elite 3 (made in East Germany), a 1960s Cole-Litton Vanguard (aka Royal Safari, made in USA), and a 1970s Kmart 200 (aka Brother Deluxe 1510, made in Japan), all with the expected dried-out ancient ribbons. Different decades, different countries, different designs. The FJA universal ribbon lives up to its name and fits each one solid and tight, threads right in, and provides a good ink impression in the paper. And American-made to boot, always a plus. This will be my go-to for all future typewriters I may acquire.

Bought an old Brother Webster typewriter from early 1960s; took a little work to get old ribbon off, new one on but that's not this product's fault! This ribbon works perfectly. Good, clean ink. Would buy again

My mom has an old electric type writer that was her Daddy's and she needed a replacement. We ordered a universal one, arrived in 2 days!! Fits perfectly with easy to install instructions. Thank goodness we dont have our manual anymore. But what really stands out is that this is manufactured by COMBAT VETERANS in USA!! Love seeing that!!!! Thank you for your service and sacrifice to our country!!

For ten bucks I expected the bare minimum: ink. As you can see from the pic it's pointless. Barely showing up on the paper, despite is having "ink" that stained my fingertips while installing in my Royal. Uneven and terrible. Pathetic product and not worth a dollar. Zero stars if I could. Shop for another brand.

This universal ribbon is great and has enabled me to resurrect an old typewritter for my mother to use. It should last her for years.
