Well done on all points - fit, appearance, construction, and packaging.
I have purchased about 30 pairs of shoes of this type over the last decade or so - from places such as Nordstom's, Dillards, and Macy's. I received the package yesterday and did a little unboxing. It was packaged neatly and things were neither too small nor too big - it was just right. To my amazement (because I've never seen such quality and unexpected value over the last decade from other retailers) I found that there wasn't simply a pair of shoes in the box. Nope. These folks have included a few bonus items I've never seen included in a purchase - not even on my most expensive pair of dress shoes. In the box was an extra pair of in-soles (sp?) There was also a nicely packaged hard/heavy metal bronze shoe slip - which I definitely used when testing the fit. Each shoe is nicely and neatly wrapped. Each shoe is stuffed with packing material to prevent collapse and deformation of the leather upper. Each shoes is then bagged in a perfect-fit canvas bag. Also included in the box was a care card, an enveloped-card about the shoes themselves, and a separation layer to prevent the pair from moving too much in the box. I.e., well done packaging with bonus items! Anthony Veer Mens Clinton Cap-toe Oxford Leather Shoe in Goodyear Welted Construction (14 D, Brown) The fit was slightly more narrow than most every other pair I've purchased from other manufacturers - so if you've typically worn a medium I'd say there will be a 'little' more snugness than usual . It wasn't overly narrow and it actually fit me very well. The sole is all leather except the cap on the heel. The upper is very well done in a fine leather with no noticeable defects (meaning that I couldn't find a single mark or abnormality - it seemed perfect.) The 'smell' of the shoe reminds me of a professional leather shop. It's nice to open a box of leather shoes and instantly know it's a true leather, and not something that 'looks' leather and will peel (as has happened in some other purchases from different manufacturers.)In summary, these appear to be finely made tires for the businessman's feet. I have no worries about the quality and I'm tempted to hypothesize these shoes will last longer than any other I've purchased thus far. They look great, the fit is great, the quality seems superb.Unfortunately I chose the wrong color. Instead of the black I received the brown - due to my neglect in clicking the drop-down color option correctly. While it is a very dark brown, I'm looking for pure black...which i just ordered to have in time for a trip overseas. I may keep the brown too.I have written about two reviews over the years regarding purchases on Amazon. I was so impressed with the packaging and bonus elements included with these shoes I decided this last purchase would be my third. I highly recommend this brand/model for anyone looking to add a good looking and quality pair of shoes to their business casual or suit-wearing environments.

Fantastic Value
I am really glad I found these Anthony Veer shoes! I just recently started upgrading my shoes. Within the past 3 months, I purchased my first two pair of Allen Edmonds. AEs are expensive shoes (even on sale), so my initial plan was to save them for when I wear suits. I normally wear dress dress slacks and button up shirts to work most days, and I will wear suits on days with an important meeting or for special social events. But then I started to realize that if I save the Allen Edmonds for suits only, they will rarely get worn. Seemed like a waste of money, so I decided to make the AEs my daily shoes (so I can enjoy them) and get something else to save for suits. That's how I came across these Anthony Veer cap toes. I had never heard of this brand before, but the style of this shoe is exactly what I wanted. A classic cap-toe in black will work for even the most formal occasion. The price was very attractive, and the specs seem to indicate all the right quality features. Plus with amazon's great free returns policy, I figured there was no risk in placing an order to see them in person. What you receive is pretty impressive. Inside of the oddly colored shoe box is the shoes (each in a cloth shoe bag), an extra set of insoles, a NICE brass shoe horn, and an extra set of laces. Nicely done. It gives you the instant impression of quality. The shoes themselves seem really nice. Had I gone from my previous $60 Dockers dress shoes to these, I'd think they were amazing. But after recently getting Allen Edmonds, I could see that the quality of the leather just isn't quite as nice. It's not bad at all, and these will serve me well as my "suit shoes", but you can just see that the grain is not as smooth and perfect. But believe me, you need to look very closely to even notice that. It's probably not fair to compare them to shoes that cost more than twice the price. The fit (at first) seemed too loose. I wear a 9.5 D in most other shoes, and that's what I ordered these in as well. When I first put them on and tied them, they seemed really loose. But they had come pre-laced in an odd way. It was cross-bar (which I like for dress shoes), but it was done weird and it made it hard to sinch them closed properly. I relaced them and the fit is now great.Overall, I am super impressed with these shoes. Especially when they come so darned close to the quality of shoes costing MUCH more.

Stay away.
The leather used on this shoe is not full grain calf skin. It’s cheap corrected leather just applying a little pressure to the leather you can see the wrinkling or bubbling of the vinyl paint used in correction process. I own a lot of leather products shoes, gloves, jackets etc. this is not a quality product and has been returned.

Really excellent shoes!
I must be having a string of luck; I bought these shoes which are terrific and I bought Stratton shoe trees for them and they are also excellent. One must understand what one is buying though. These are traditional men's dress shoes, not sneakers or athletic shoes. They need to be broken in and I'd advise that be done slowly for the sake of your feet if not for the sake of the shoes. To say they need to be broken in is not a criticism of the shoe, they seem excellently made to me in every way and fit very well. It's just that they are NEW leather shoes and they're going to be STIFF and if you don't take that into account you will probably SUFFER. Wear them for short periods at first and bring another pair of shoes with you if you can. If you polish these periodically, try to keep them dry, and get them resoled and reheeled as necessary there's no reason not to expect these shoes to last you for many years.

Meh
I thought they would make great shoes, but the leather has a plastic/ vinyl coating on it which gives it a cheap feel and look.Leather sole is okay and it does come with a few goodies, very disapointed still.
