I actually ordered this book for my sister who works in the home schooling department of a Christian organization overseas and was not aware that it was supposed to come with a hard dust-cover. I ordered another volume from another bookseller, and that volume arrived with the dust cover. Although I am a bit disappointed that this one did not, I am pleased because the book is in good condition. I just wish I knew what was supposed to come with it. Thank you -

This book isn't just a bunch of well known information about dogs and cats. Not only is it interesting to learn the uniqueness of many wild animals, but the author also points out the related character trait (perseverance, patience, respect, etc). Then the author talks about a character in the Bible with the same character trait. I have used this in teaching our kids and also for the children's object lessons at church. Great addition to the library. - Craig

Grew up with this book and was delighted to get another copy to share with our grands.

This book stinks. Literally. Every time I crack it open, the room fills with the musty smell of mold. It's clear the book had water damage at some point (stains and pages stuck together) and then was sealed in a plastic wrap, so all that moisture just developed into an odor of my grandparents basement. However, I digress...The book was copyrighted in 1971 and introduces the reader (presumably a father) to the duty of raising children in Christian faith through the study of bible characters as well as animals in nature that embody a particular trait. Just started with my sons and I really like it- kind of a mix between the classic World Book series and key bible stories.The material is great. We just pinch our nose when reading through it.

We love the Character Sketches books, how ever we don't like the price these things have on them new; so buying from Amazon worked out for us. The quality of the book when arrived was like new. Can't wait to find and buy our next one.

The two volumes are invaluable teaching aids for a family. They integrate bible characters with specific animals giving a wonderful view of nature and of the characteristics of mankind. Brilliant and highly informative.
