Interesting sequel
Overall a fairly good sequel to the Labyrinth of Dreaming books, but did get bogged down a bit about 2/3 of way through & had to go away and have a break of a few weeks or so from the book before I could go back and finish it. Not as good as the Labyrinth, but if you are a real fan of Labyrinth then it might be worth giving it a go. Would I buy again? No, I'd probably borrow it from the library and spend my money on something else.

Utterly bizarre book but a compelling read never the less
If you haven't read a Walter Moers book before then start with "The 13.5 Lives of Captain Bluebear" which is the best book he has written in my eyes and then move onto this book at a later date. This book is still highly entertaining and you are completely dazzled and sucked into Walter Moers wonderful world of imagination.A fantastic and utterly gripping novel

Another mad bonkers Zamonia tale.
After reading the brilliant Captain Bluebeard and Zumo books this was next on the list. Again it’s great and well worth reading. This was darker and had a proper plot and read more like a novel but it was still crazy. It’s set under a city where books are everything, but these books can kill, have lives of their own and the book hunters who supply book shops with them will stop at nothing to get hold of the most valuable copies. Not as good as the first two of the Zamonia books but that’s virtually impossible to beat, but well worth reading and getting lost in a fantasy world inhabitated by grubs, booklings, dinosaurs and other creatures born of an amazing imagination.

Hilarious, exciting, imaginative
One of my favourite novels involving a cornucopia of strange characters (the "author" himself is a dragon-like creature), brilliantly illustrated with deliciously off-beat cartoons by the real author, Walter Moers, describing the adventures of protagonist Optimus Yarnspinner and his visit to a book-obsessed city wherein lie terrible things, including death-dealing volumes down in the dark catacombs below. Hilarious, exciting, imaginative and completely absorbing fiction from the creator of the wonderful Blue Bear adventure.
