They work great out of the box

Good Little Poppers
Built well for the price and work as they should. They are small, so work well in a finesse presentation. Will catch crappie and bluegill. The only drawback is the hooks are a size or two to small for the actual lure i.e. they aren’t wide enough to always go through the lip of a larger fish (largemouth bass) I would recommend replacing hooks unless you don’t mind losing a few or using a softer rod to compensate the smaller hooks.
