Best Cookbook!!
Amazing cookbook!! I am so excited to cook and enjoy all the recipes. Rocco inspires me to live a healthy lifestyle. His recipes are healthy and DELICIOUS! They are quick, easy, and creative. I lost over 20 lbs following Rocco's diet programs in his other bestsellers and I'm so happy to have almost 250 new recipes at my fingertips that are gluten free, dairy free and refined sugar free to continue my commitment to eating healthy every day! The photos in this book are especially great because there is a pic by every recipe which makes them all so approachable and inviting to try!

Not for everyone.
I heard about this book on the Rich Roll podcast and ordered it the same day. Yes, Rich, your podcast holds influence ;)If you don’t know Rich, check him out.He has an incredible story, a couple great books - including a truly plant-based cookbook; he’s a huge advocate for plant-based living; and the accomplishments he’s made on a plant-based diet are beyond noteworthy. But this isn’t supposed to be about his accolades.I received the book last night and couldn’t wait to see all the delicious plant-based recipes. I flipped through the pages and, to be honest, I was really pissed. I kept seeing, “Egg. Egg whites. Meat. Fish. Shrimp. Bacon.” I was furious. Technically, the carnivore dishes have “mostly” plant-based ingredients but the same could be said for any chicken salad.I immediately went to amazon and ordered a return label. Then I jumped into the reviews to see if I was the only person who felt duped. Reactionary much? Maybe. After taking a moment, I returned to the book to assess the true quality of the content as it pertains to my personal dietary restrictions. After further review, it will make a nice addition to my small collection of plant-based cookbooks, but I can understand how some folks may disagree.I’ll break it down so you’ll have a better idea of what’s really going on and you can decide for yourself whether or not it’s what you’re looking for.Breakfast: 30-something recipes, approx 12 are vegan. Of those, about 5 are oatmeal/cereal recipes and about another 5 are breakfast bars. Then there’s a non-dairy yogurt option and maybe 1 other vegan thing. No pancakes, no waffles, no tofu or soyrizo scramble, no breakfast burrito. Seriously disappointed about this as breakfast is one of my 4 favorite meals! ;)I was SO looking forward to some great crepes or something but Rocco’s recipe for crepes calls for egg. There are about 25 smoothie recipes. I’ll assume they’re all vegan but there’s no lack of smoothie recipes on the internet so this isn’t a huge benefit.12 soups: 3 call for meat.21 salads: 4 call for meat.10 veggie burger recipes and 1 recipe for buns. The bun recipe calls for egg.About 30 main dishes: no more than 10 are plant based. Another big disappointment as dinner also sits pretty high on my favorite meals list. There are around 35 or so, “snacks & bites”: a minimum of 10 call for egg or meat.17 avocado dishes: I noticed 3 that included meat.15 “sides & sauces”: I think they’re all actually plant-based.28 desserts! 1 calls for egg, 1 calls for gelatin.I think people should be a little more mindful when using the term, “plant-based,” in the title of their book but, all in all, there are a lot of vegan-friendly recipes here.If you want a strictly plant-based (vegan) cookbook, there are better ones out there (like Rich Roll’s Plant Power Way and Julie Piatt’s This Cheese is Nuts!) but this, overall, is a nice book at a good price. Are there some redundancies? Yeah, but what cookbook doesn’t capitalize on minor modifications to existing recipes? Is there an uncomfortable number of NON-plant-based recipes? For me, there is, but there are also plenty of really interesting recipes for those of us who don’t do the animal thing, and the production value is nice, too.If you just want healthy options and a viable way to introduce more plant-based recipes into your diet, this will be a great book for you.

Nice Recipes, but way too much microwaving
While this cookbook offers many healthy and tasty choices that are simple and quick to make, several of the recipes rely too heavily on microwave cooking. Most chefs don't do that. I personally think the microwave is fine for reheating something for about 30 seconds, and that's it. When I am preparing a meal, I would prefer to take the time and do things the old fashioned way. More nutrients and better tasting dishes that way. I know many reviewers commented on the fact that this is not a vegetarian cookbook, however, to Rocco's credit, he did not say it was. It says MOSTLY plant based, not entirely, so it's not really fair to ding him for that. The majority of them are vegetarian, but the ingredients for quite a few are not readily available at your local supermarket. Some of it takes a little hunting to find, and some I even had to order online and it was pricey! However, the end result for some of the recipes was worth the extra effort. Overall a good cookbook, but next time, maybe offer alternatives to making dishes in the microwave.

Now my most prized cookbook!
A great new cookbook, and now the best one I own, and I have a library of cookbooks! Even better than Rocco's Negative Calorie Cookbook with a lot more recipes, a picture of each one, all of them easy to make and mostly affordable. Several meat recipes including chicken, beef and seafood; none of the recipes require any kind of gluten containing flours or any sugars. Great soups and salads. I am equipping my pantry to try at least half of the recipes I have flagged over the next few weeks. Rocco's best accomplishment so far! I say to the sugar lobby in Washington: Get Lost!!

Rocco's Best Book!
Rocco has released many cookbooks over the past 15 years. I have many of them and would rank Rocco’s Healthy & Delicious as one of the best. The recipes are simple to follow (with preparation and cooking time estimates), the photos are amazing and the meals are nutritious. Although Rocco has created several diet books recently, I would not consider this one a diet book. The recipes are for people who want to eat well and live a healthy lifestyle. For avocado lovers (I am one), there is a chapter with over 15 avocado recipes!

Gas up your car!
You will need to go to six different stores to buy the ingredients for these recipes. Some looked good but it is hard to judge the taste when the ingredients are so elusive and foreign. I say no because it seems silly and expensive to re-stock my pantry for one cookbook. Returned.

This is the Book I've Been Waiting For!
I so appreciate Rocco's philosophy and it's one I'm adapting for myself. After years of yo-yo dieting and failed attempts to lose weight, I started to make a lifestyle change about 6 months ago, but was running out of ideas on how to make food healthy and nutritious, but still taste good. Now, with the help of the fabulous recipes included in this book, I can continue on my journey to living a healthy lifestyle that's sustainable.I think this book has a lot of added value - it includes the calorie content, fiber, carbs, protein and fat for each recipe, along with pictures of each dish. This I appreciate!!! I made the Eggplant and Turkey Bacon Hash for dinner last night and it was a big hit! Also, the house smelled great! I can't wait to try more fabulous recipes.

Big disappointment
Like a previous reviewer I heard about this on the Rich Roll podcast and eagerly pre ordered it. Was very disappointed when it arrived. Contains way more eggs and meat recipes than I expected given that the title states mostly plant based. Another reviewer has listed the number of recipes that are not purely plant based and it’s a LOT. Was hopeful that the 11 veggie burger recipes would be good but they all contain Rocco’s protein baking mix in the ingredient list - what even is that?? I haven’t actually made anything from this book - I should have returned it. I think it was misleading for this to be promoted on Rich Roll’s podcast - it implied something that was mostly plant based . This isn’t. Much prefer Áine Carlin’s vegan recipe books.

(Mostly) not plant based
On balance this is a good book with some novel and inspiring ideas for eating healthily, but I was disappointed to find that only 6 of the 31 mains dishes didn’t centre on meat or seafood. Put another way only 20% of the mains recipes are plant based. There is a nice veggie burger section. IMHO too much content is devoted to how to make porridge, salads and desserts.
