Snails In The Rain

I had to watch this movie 4 times to really understand the odd emotional response I was having to it. The only way I can think of to describe this movie is to say it's psychologically erotic. With no nudity or graphic sex, the author and director manage to get you into the head of an attractive straight man who is struggling with the knowledge he has a gay secret admirer that has fallen in love with him. You experience every nuance of the emotional roller coaster he and his girlfriend experience as they work their way through and out of this uncomfortable situation. Great filming and acting blend with the unique story and directing to make this one seriously sexy movie. Definitely got put in the small favorites niche of my DVD library.

A erotic story about repressed feelings and how they can sometimes take a toll on your life. The lead actor is just so stunning to look at and played the part very well. For those looking for nudity this movie takes what you don't see and makes it all the more hot, def like the bathtub scenes. Sometimes a little confusing if you give it time it plays out nicely although in the end for the main character Boaz he fate is not really determined.

I liked this film. In fact, I just saw another film from Israel that I liked a lot to, but that one was a short. I have to say some of the gay films coming out of Israel are pretty good, Eyes Wide Open, The Bubble, Jager to name a few. Although I wouldn't go as far as to say this film was on the same level as Eyes Wide Open, it was, in my opinion, able to stand on its own. There are things to unpack in this film - just as there are in those other films that I mentioned, and I'll try to unpack them without giving anything away, and I'll start with the girl friend ...I thought who ever the actress is, played it very well. In my opinion, I thought she was very brave. I can say, if my significant other did to me what was done to her, that'd be it for me. Over. Done with. Kaput! The only thing that I didn't think was - that plausible - was how she figured it all out so quickly. Some couples have been married, 30, 40 years and the partner never finds out, so, in my opinion, I think it would have taken a bit more than a bus ride and a glimpse at someone for her to figure it out. It's clear that she loves him ... especially after she puts all the pieces together.Boaz - well - he is, what I suppose, what a lot of bi-sexual or latent gay men who had not acted on their desires, called themselves back in the 90's - bi-curious. Going back to when he was in the service, Boaz clearly had feelings, desires and impulses for men, the problem is he never fully acts on them. He gets just close enough, just to get a taste and then he cuts and runs for the hills - and therefore continues living his life as a straight man. Again, because of the life style that Boaz chooses, I think that the girl friend is being very brave - or very foolish. I'll leave that there.The professor. First of all, he's not a bad looking man. I want to say that maybe if he wasn't running after younger men and maybe looked for men around his age and on his level, it could be different (and they don't really go into a back story on the professor, so its possible that he has looked for men more his age. He's not old or anything like that). I don't want to say that he's pathetic, because loneliness is very powerful and can be very, very destructive, and possibly lead to depression and anxiety and a lot of other mental and physical problems, but in my opinion, it doesn't seem to me that he's really trying to get out of what he's doing. He's indulging in this fantasy world that he's making for himself and reaching for something, in my opinion that is unattainable. Personally, in my opinion, aside from what he wants being unattainable, that person is also emotionally and mentally unavailable, and one may even argue unstable in some ways. In my humble opinion, what the professor is doing is not really helpful, I want to say, he's doing himself more harm than good. I personally think he should seek therapy (and maybe he will, the film doesn't go into the future in the professors case - or at least - I don't think it does).Some of the reviewers were a bit harsh on this film. I didn't think it was a bad film at all ... in fact, in my life thus far, I've seen my share of men and couples and professionals in similar situations as some of the characters in this film.

I loved how the main character was constantly torn between his youthful past and involvement with men and his current relationship with a woman. His struggle with his sexuality is beautifully portrayed in a number of encounters with hot and handsome men.

The synopsis provided by Amazon covers the territory. It is a depressing story, and to complicate it more, the movie is in Hebrew with English subtitles.

I would like to give this less than one star. Despite allegedly being an LGBTQ+ film made in Israel this (coming of age?) movie is inherently anti-semitic and anti-LGBTQ+, and while pretending to be an lgbtq+ film then also becomes rather misogynistic as well. Don't be fooled by the sexy lead actor. Further, and m ore importantly for a review of a film, by film, not political, standards this is at best and undergrad film student thesis. Sadly, were this film submitted to me to satisfy a senior thesis in film-making I would have to fail.

Certainly surprising for an Israeli film! Must have squeaked by the censors, just. The newest actor/model in Israel is good but could do with some more training, as can anyone in his position. Surprised me how good he was. The ending wasn't very surprising, given the man's reputation as a new star on the scene. Also, surprisingly, the subtitles were very easy to follow. Overall a great little film!

This is one of the most sublimely erotic movies I’ve ever seen! Beautifully written and acted. I have never seen so many incredibly good looking men. And, this is indeed, the way of the world!

Great movie, great seller, great communication

Ho trovato questo prodotto tramite l'Enciclopedia Wikipedia (voce omonima nella sezione italiana) ma non concordo con l'illustrazione che da questa viene fatta. A mio parere si tratta del dramma di uno studente bisessuale generato dal vuoto normativo a fronte di categorie sessuologiche poco pubblicizzate dai media che renderebbe urgente una ridefinizione del concetto di famiglia in termini poliamorosi come possiamo trovare ad esempio in Nepal o in Tibet. L'enigmatica scena finale si può interpretare nel senso che la situazione dello studente troverà una soluzione futura quando le leggi saranno cambiate a seguito di una consapevolezza generale più espansa sulle tematiche della sessualità. E' quindi un film sì drammatico, ma con lieto fine; così almeno si spera.

L'acteur principal est une merveille aussi bien dans sa plastique que dans son jeu ! histoire très réelle ! une fin peut etre un peu trop simpliste !

I had the privileve seeig this film at its premier in Montreal, and meeting the star and also the director. The central performance was strong and played with amazing sensitivity; an amazig first outing for a gifted new talent! There are some very clever uses of flashback later in the film to explain ourr protagonist's past and motivation, although more could have been made of this.During the Q&A session after the film, the relevance of the snails was explained - hiding away from your true self -and could have been made more explicit. I loved the film and all it entailed. Good day for new talent in Israeli Cinema.
