Bosch has spared no expense on this tool
With 1800 watts of power, this has more than double the power of a typical 5 inch angle grinder. Even experienced users may get intimidated by the power of it. This kind of a power from such a small and light weight tool was total surprise for me.The fit and finish of the tool is top notch. The materials used on it are the best one can get from the industry. This is one of the very few 5 inch angle grinders I have seen with a properly forged and machined gear set. It is very clear that Bosch has spared no expense on this tool. The machine I got was made in Germany. However, there is no guarantee that you will always get a made in Germany machine.Once you get used to the extra power, you will realize that it is actually a very safe and comfortable machine. Including the power cord it weights around 2.8kg. It has a 4 meter log thick rubber jacketed power cord. If you exclude the weight of the power cord, it should not weigh more than 2kg. Its closest competitor Dewalt DW831 is only 1400w and is much bigger and heavier (around 4kg) than Bosch.Bosch has incorporated almost all safety and convenience features I can think of on this machine. Electronic clutch, restart protection, key-less protective guard, electronic soft-start, vibration control handles, overload protection the list goes on...I bought this tool for metal working, especially stainless steel. If you are buying it for concrete or masonry work then I suggest you go for some other brand. Bosch has a very complicated switch mechanism for its rat-tail grinders. These switches get jammed very easily if dust gets into it.
