Unreliable filter. Leak fix.
Clear water filter housing sprung a leak after 15 months. Replacement lasted 20 months and started leaking. Now Amazon is out of stock. I guess I just wasted my money.I noticed other people have this problem. I drilled holes on the ends of each crack. I scuffed the insides with steel wool on a dowel. I injected fiberglass resin into each hole. I then wrapped two layers of fiberglass around the bottom to hold it secure. My leak has been fixed..Update : I now have two filters that leak. My fiberglass repairs only lasted about a year. Multiple repairs make more repairs almost impossible. Don't waste your money on this product.

Very good product.
Noticed the water looked clearer, tasted better and my wife said it made her hair softer. Very satisfied.

It does a great job filtering but does little for softening the water.

Filters, But Doesn't Seem to Actually Soften
The media could not be loaded. 2nd UPDATE: After reporting the previously mentioned defect to Aquios, they sent me a replacement part without too much hassle. So that's the good news. Now that I've had the unit installed for about a year I will report that I'm just "ok" with how it has performed. There are three primary things that influence how I feel about this product:1) It actually broke. Yes, I got a replacement, but the hassle is huge when dealing with plumbing of any kind.2) They shouldn't even use the words "water softener". Whatever it does is so minimal as to not be perceptible .3) Although they rate the unit at 12 gallons per minute, when you put one of their cartridges in it instantly drops to about 2 gallons per minute. So I consider that wildly false advertising.I purchased this filter assuming I could get 12 GPM out of it which would be enough for multiple people in the house to take a shower simultaneously, etc. But as it turns out when you use their own filter cartridges this simply isn't the case. If someone starts washing clothes or something like that, it can ruin your day if you happen to be in the shower. With a brand new filter cartridge in the system I find there is reasonable pressure. But we're going through cartridges about every month because even a slight bit of buildup and the pressure drops to like 1GPM which is wholly unacceptable. In addition to the hassle of frequent changes, Aquios filters cost about $50 each, so that ends up costing more than if we were to have a much larger, much higher capacity, contracted water softener system installed and paid the $40 per month to have it maintained!Having said that, and considering we can't notice a difference from the "softening", it seems like a good idea to switch to some generic "Carbon Block Water Filters, 2.5 x 20 Inch Replacement Cartridges" which can be had for 1/4 the price of Aquios cartridges (see: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VRZD6D0). I'm going to give those a try as they claim to be a direct replacement. But it does make you think - if I'm going to be buying cheap generic cartridges, why didn't I just buy a cheap filter for a fraction of the price of this one...?--------------------------------------------UPDATE: After less than 7 months and upon the second filter change, the Aquios unit is failing. When the unit is switched to either OFF or BYPASS it leaks badly. (See attached video.)We have normal water pressure, and this was professionally plumbed in. There is no reason for failure other than the unit itself being defective, which seems crazy given that this product supposedly has a 20 year warranty. Perhaps I'm just the unlucky one.At this point I will be forced to deal with figuring out how to get a replacement unit, and then the cost of having it swapped out again. Make your own determination when considering this product.----------------------------When I purchased this unit I had an expectation that it would not only filter the water, because that can be done with far less expensive filters, but that it would actually provide noticeable softening.I installed it, along with a pre-filter to capture larger particles before they contaminated this one, about a month ago and it seems to be doing it's job of filtering. I like the fact that the container is clear so you can see the state of the media inside.Having said that, no one in my household can discern a difference in water softness now that the unit is installed. And considering that the filter plus professional installation was around $800, that is disappointing.

It is not good for well water
It is not good for well water. Our unit is leaking and the filter gets clogged within 2 months at my house. I bought this unit based on the reviews to help with my hard water.

So far it's doing the job. My wife can feel the difference when washing her hair and the water seems to taste better.

Gone after only 15 Months
The filter holder (the clear plastic portion) has cracked along the bottom portion/seam and is leaking water. The crack along what appears to be the seam is almost 2 inches long. The entire unit was very expensive and was expected to last longer than 15 months.
