Too-delicate design for stiff time-adjustment wheel
This movement came, as they all do, with a nut and washer for the clock face side to hold the movement in place. Despite the flats on the nut that are clearly for a wrench, the instructions said the nut should never be tightened past hand-tight. (If a wrench should never be used, why supply a nut with flats instead of knurling?)The problem was, the time-adjustment wheel on the back of the movement was very stiff. If the face nut were only hand-tight, any attempt to adjust the time would immediately rotate the entire movement. So, I felt forced to bend the rules and use a wrench to snug down the movement. I did not crank it down hard, just enough. Everything worked -- for a few hours. Then the clock stopped. I removed the movement and tested it standalone, and it kept time again.I assumed this particular unit was problematic and returned it for replacement. But the vendor told me that all the units are the same. They said my hands must be too heavy for this product and gave me a refund instead.I don't think my hands are too heavy. Rather I think this design, despite its "high torque" rating, is too delicate for a large clock, especially when the stiffness of its time-adjustment wheel is considered. I will go back to the Tikround/Youngtown 12888 I've used in the past; its time-adjustment wheel was much easier to turn and it tolerated a far tighter face nut with no problem. Please note that even the 12888, and probably any modern inexpensive movement, will be unhappy if the face nut is cranked down too hard. But the Takane appears uncommonly sensitive in this respect. That'd be OK if the time-adjustment wheel turned super easy, but it doesn't.

Second to none
Overall, this is a good clock motor. It keeps accurate time with the hour and minute hands. The second hand seemed to struggle so I removed it. Going from “second to none” did the trick.

Working great day 3
Works great, hopefully last longer than the one that came with the clock

Perfect replacement.
Had a clock I bought in 2003 that stopped keeping time. The clock has 17" hands so I wondered if this would have enough torque to turn them. Installed and the clock works perfectly.
