I have had this monster of a Nalgene bottle since September 2014 and it is still holding up perfect! I have always wanted a large Nalgene bottle to drink out of; this bottle fills up about three times to one gallon of water, just what I needed for my Gallon challenge! I recommend getting the Humangear Capcap (http://amzn.to/1xfur7Z) along with it, yes it is almost as much as the Nalgene bottle itself, but it is worth every penny! The very first day that I received this bottle, I went to eat Mexican food; many people say that the flavor and smell of the food after a while lingers on the cap of the bottle. This hasn't been the case for all these months. Every now and then I recommend washing the bottle out every day and cleaning it a couple times a week. Since there is so much water in this bottle when full, it stays cool for many hours and it is usually always cooler than room temp, even when setting out overnight. The strap on the lid has held up very well and is still going strong, that is how I have been carrying it around for all these months and I will continue to do so. I have also dropped it many times from multiple heights and only a few minor scratches, but no dents. This is some very, very thick "BPA free" plastic! In my closing statement, I will say that for the money, you cannot beat this epic water bottle! Well worth your money and is going to last you a long time! if you don’t want to go all out, a 32oz bottle would most likely work best for you.

Three time owner of this bottle so got some things to say! SHORT SUMMARY: MADE IN THE USA! Support companies that we know pay fairly and create US jobs! To begin with, this bottle is perfect for the outdoors! The wide mouth makes it easy to fill from a mountain stream or lake, and large size = less fills = less hassle with iodine tablets. The shape of the bottle makes it easy to slip into a backpack bottle pocket and it will be good for many hikes and backpacking trips to come as the durable plastic will last for years in an outdoor environment. If you want it for everyday use it will work just fine BUT CAN BE ENHANCED by my suggestions below. ON TO SUGGESTIONS making it THE PERFECT bottle for the outdoors and everyday use: LONG REVIEW: I have LOVED nalgene products for as long as I've loved the outdoors (my whole life), and this bottle is the one! I purchased one of these a long time ago and had the same issue as many reviewers. I dropped it once when it was all the way full from waist height and it shattered the bottom. I was so sad, but nalgene can do no wrong (and I don't really feel it was nalgene's fault because it is a big heavy bottle when full, the plastic IS generally pretty durable, and there is a limit to materials engineering when manufacturing a bottle you can get for only $10 - $12) so I ordered another. Took that one to nepal to hike Base Camp Everest, took it all over the west coast camping for a couple years, lost it. I was devastated. I just got this bottle again and decided to go all out this time! I paired it with a: - RUBBER BOOT (to protect from scratching it up and should keep it from shattering if I drop it. Mine doesn't fit perfectly but I'm sure you can find one that does and mine works well enough doing what it's supposed to do, not making the bottle tip or anything, if you don't mind a imperfect fit) - STRAW LID (makes it more practical for everyday and easier to drink from if you're on the move) - PARACORD HANDLE (it's a big bottle and can get heavy and awkward to carry when all the way full. Plus the plastic ring on the handle has a loophole where I can attach a round key chain which in turn has a tile sticker on it (details to come)) - TILE STICKER TRACKER (not necessary at all, but I tend to lose things, and my nalgene water bottle has a lot of sentimental value to me since I take it everywhere with me EVERYDAY as well as hiking, backpacking, etc. I also stick stickers from all the places I go on it, so I really don't want to lose it. I attached the tile sticker to the back of a round key ring with my college insignia on it, and the key ring to the paracord handle) These additions make it AWESOME for everyday use. I should be able to keep and use this bottle for years and eventually retire it to my other nalgene bottles that carry to many memories and are to precious to risk carrying around everyday and losing. This is a simple timeless bottle that will last for your whole life if you want it to and not dent when you look at it like another bandwagon, made-in-china brand of water bottle I know, cough Hydro*lask. I will also add a keychain that can be found on amazon that I believe will fit the tile. Also attached to the review is a photo of the kitted out bottle (pretty rugged looking if I do say so myself) and me with this exact bottle (the old one) hiking BCE! OK, long review over. I love the large volume, which is a bigger than the standard Nalgene bottle. The skinny design fits nicely into my work bag, and I prefer it to the more squat, smaller, standard version. Trying to stay properly hydrated throughout the day can be a challenge, so finding a bottle that worked for me was a small, but important, step in that effort. I'm been pleased so far. As for cleaning, ideally, it'd be placed on the top rack of the dishwasher, but it's far too tall to fit, even with the rack adjustment. It routinely goes through the dishwasher on the bottom rack without issue, but we don't use the heated dry feature either. I prefer the screw cap, because I've seen way too many sports caps with built in straws get moldy, even with proper cleaning. This simple design lets me see and clean the entire bottle, including the rim from which I drink. On that note, this is a deep bottle, so consider a bottle brush to clean it out especially if you carry something other than water. It's as sturdy and indestructible as all of my other Nalgene products. Also, as other reviewers have commented, I'm not sure of the logic behind calling this a "Men's" bottle, as I am not a man, and this bottle surely hasn't turned me into one either. I just double checked. I'm definitely still a woman.

Despite being a "Men's" bottle, my silly lady brain managed to figure this out just fine. It is BIG. Which is great, because I drink a large amount of water during the day and don't like to have to run back and forth to the kitchen to fill my bottle over and over. I chose this one, because I heard Nalgene makes good, sturdy, and simple bottles, which is what I need. I don't like bottles with straws (they're impossible to clean), I don't like glass because I drop things, I didn't want a fancy opener, because I'll spill it everywhere on accident. This is just a smooth, straight large bottle with a screw off lid - which fastens tightly. I did order the Nalgene Easy Sipper Cap For Wide Mouth Bottles Black to go with it, and I don't think I'd like this bottle as much without it, but at the same time, I like that it's optional and removable, and not just built into the bottle. I also really enjoy how easy this bottle is to clean. Many other bottles have parts that can get moldy or gross or you need a special collection of brushes to clean every part. Not so with this. I use an old baby bottle brush and it gets down there just fine. Love this bottle!

Everything you could hope for in a regular drinking bottle. The wide mouth lets you drink as much as you want and as long as you're careful you won't spill. The strap holding the lid is also very durable and strong and even when full can be held by the strap. Though, I wouldn't recommend holding it by the strap. I dropped it when I was crossing the road and the bottom of the bottle cracked and it's now broken. Thinking about buying a new one if the manufacturer doesn't replace!

Nalgenes are awesome. Were 'all the rage' at college, by which I just mean lots of people had them. Always great to have water around (people don't drink enough water!). Especially to hydrate when you get back from a night of dehydrating festivities. The 1L bottles hold a substantial amount of water, more than you can drink in a go or two. But I got a great deal on this (relative to the 1L size) and it's summer! so boom, 1.5L it is. This is a wide mouth so if you try to toss it back and chug, you'll get water all over yourself. But hey, maybe you're into that. Restraint might be a good skill to learn. Just to see if I liked it, I bought a Guyot Designs Splash Guard, which fits snug inside the wide mouth of this bottle. It works great, has two holes - one for air flow. The only 'issue' I have with the splash guard is that it forces you to orient the bottle so that you drink from one side of the mouth - which is not something I'm used to with a nalgene, esp when the loop holding the cap to the bottle is free to move around. Just adds a second's thought to reorient and drink. So consider if the 5 bucks is worth adding to this perfectly fine 10 dollar bottle. Without it, the mouth is no bigger than that of a cup, we all know how to drink from cups.

I really like the Nalgene Wide Mouth Bottles. They are BPA Free. They are so easy to keep clean which really cuts the odors out that some water bottles can take on. I have had no issues with them leaking. They are also durable, I have dropped mine while taking it out of my book bag and it did not break of crack. I have two of these bottles, one in Blue and I have one in Cosmo. Both are very nice looking. The lids are attached to the bottle so it keeps me from loosing them. Each bottle holds 48 ounces which is the perfect size for me. I know as long as I finish both of these bottles I have got my water intake in for the day. These bottles have really helped me keep up with my intake cause I see exactly how much I have drank. Awesome Buy! Fair price!
