I have a 2x4x6 grow tent and it works like a charm
I have a 2x4x6 grow tent and it works like a charm. It was getting pretty loud in my house from the smell of my herbs but this fan solved it. I do have 3 complaints about the fan but they aren't enough to dock a star. My biggest complaint is the lack of a speed control. Doesn't cost but a dollar to add that in. Second is the length of the cord but I have a phlizon light with an outlet on the back so it worked out. Third is the ducting was a very snug fit on the filter. Good part is I didn't need a hose clamp. All in all it was a good buy. Its not too loud and actually works good if you like airflow at night while you sleep. It's actually about as loud as my hepa filter on high just to give you a little idea. I also wish it wasn't as bulky so I could use it as a fart fan in my dook hut

Worth every bit of my blood sweat and tears my time not money
Have ran it for about 2 months straight I did get a dial controller to vary speed because it seriously is that good has 0 problems on half speed in a 3wide by 7 foot tall tent 0 smells very pleased with my purchase if i buy quality to me it should be recognized because of all the fake stuff we deal with now a days as consumers. Thank you!

Buy the correct fan speed controller
IF YOUR FAN IS TOO LOUD DO NOT GET A CHEAP FAN CONTROLLER!!!!!A lot of people get the cheap, 20 dollar, made-in-china fan controllers here, and while they will work for a time, it is the electrical equivalent of wanting to dim your lights by turning them on and off several times a second.IF YOU WANT TO HAVE VARIABLE FAN SPEED, GET A VARIABLE VOLTAGE AUTOTRANSFORMER!!!! Known as a Variac, they usually are about 80-100 USD, but they are designed for this type of motor. They will not burn out your fan motor, and will ensure your fan lasts for many years to come. Protect your investment. My actual review is this:its loud, and maybe a little too powerful for my 2x4x5 tent- I got the 6" model, and even with two 2" diameter pvc pipes and some extra 6" ducting, I cant get enough passive airflow into my tent during dark photoperiod, meaning my tent is getting sucked in so far it is smushing my plants. I plan on getting a Variac in the next few weeks to slow the fan speed down. The plus is, I can smoke in my room now, and the air gets scrubbed almost immediately.

Second time around
I bough my ipower 4 inch fan in 2015.The scrubber completely got rid of odors the first year. The second year was nearly odor free after I switched the ends around. I consider that to be pretty good for the cost. The fan: I ran it 24/7 for pretty much the entire time before the death rattle began last winter. After a short run with a Vivosun 6- inch fan, I'm back to purchase my second fan.

Short life expectancy, very loud. Will die just after return period
Exceptionally low quality fan. This fan was initially louder than another 4 inch inline fan that I was using in a different tent. Eventually after just 5 weeks (just beyond the product return time) of operation, it would grow to be louder in operation until it became clear that the life expectancy of the unit will be very short (I might be lucky to get 3-4 months out of it).At first the ipower 4 inch inline seemed nearly identical in specs, and was just a cheaper online version of the same quality you might find at the entry level in a brick & mortar store, but it seems I was wrong. I would return it if I could, but now I know to avoid cheaper units like this.

Not As Good As I Hoped
The unit is made in China, despite the Origin being listed as US. The unit is not quiet. After about twenty-four hours of operation the vibration level significantly increased. Rubber mounting on an isolation fixture was required to get the vibration / noise to an acceptable level. The flanges on the intake and discharge ends of the fan are so short that it is difficult to attach the duct. The flanges are also excessively tapered, making the duct prone to slipping off. I wouldn't buy another one when this one is no longer useable. The filter is ok.

I'm a huge fan.
Extremely effective and way more power than I needed. The filter will remove all odor. Seriously. All of it. It's amazing. One of these other reviews mentions "hiding a skunk in a shoebox" and it is spot on.The fan is a bit loud (as you might expect), but if you don't need the full power, you can grab a fan-speed controller like the one below to slow (and quiet) it down a bit. I have a small tent and was able to get negative pressure in there immediately. Could have slowed it down a good deal more and achieved the same. Not sure what else you can ask for. If it seems like it fits the bill, it probably does. Active Air ACSC Duct Fan Speed Adjuster

Revised: Needed tweaking
Fan started making noise after 1 month of operation. Fan shaft play responsible. Poor workmanship.------------------I've had many fan filter combos. This one needed tweaking. I don't like how the hose clamp to the filter/fan goes together. On higher quality combos the filter and fan have 1 sleeve clamp that supports both the fan and filter together as one unit for easy hanging inside your vegetable grow tent. This one requires you to make either a frame to support both for hanging purposes or you would have to hang the fan and filter separate. It is a quiet fan but not the quite as silent as my others. If your on a budget this is still a good buy.

Great buy
Works great. Works for 2x4x5 tent very effectively, could even be used for something even bigger and still work just as fine depending how your wanting to set up.Carbon filter even after a year old still runs like it’s brand new, I can still smell that fresh carbon scrubbed air.Longer ducting and directing the ducting out will eliminate some of the noise, covering or hiding the inline fan will get rid of further noise.I bought a fan controller to slow the fan down and I don’t usually run the fan any faster then 1/2 speed, or even usually I’ll run it lower. After a year of having the fan and filter and seeing reviews this held up and works amazing and I hope to get many more years out of the fan & filter.

Industrial welding shop
Purchased and installed this fan in an industrial welding shop for a smaller workspace (not welding fumes), just wanted something to pull out other fumes. It's been running now non-stop for 2 years (bought Sept 2018, installed Oct 2018) in a welding shop at full settings. Still works great, no issues, we blow it out once every couple of months to make sure nothing is settling in the fan unit. But works great. If you bought this for home use and take somewhat care of it you're good to go. Went with the 8" for a massive space (> 10,000 ft3) so if you're doing a small grow room the 8" will be huge. The ducting is a little chinsey, but if you need something more rugged or rigid purchase some tin ducting and hard duct your exhaust. The stuff that comes with it is easily patched with tin tape.

Happy with my purchase
Fan isn't as loud as I expected (I run at about 75% on a speed controller). Ducting was more then enough for what I needed. Carbon filter itself feels well built, sturdy and does its job. Exhausted air is scrubbed well without any trace odour. I'm late into vegetative growth and there is a very skunky smell within the tent with nothing coming through the external wall outside. Hopefully it's as effective through flowering. The included pre-filter fits snuggly
