Calphalon 1767952 Tri-Ply Stainless Steel 8-Piece Cookware Set, Silver

I purchased this set to replace my original 13 piece Calphalon Tri Ply set which was not compatible with my new induction cook top. Since I had been completely satisfied with the quality and performance of the first set it was an easy decision to replace it with an induction capable set. I had used the original set for about four years and have been using the new set for several months now, originally on my old ceramic electric cook top and for the last month on an induction cook top. I have noticed no degradation in quality or performance in the new set as compared to the "old" one.It is worthy of note (at least to me it is) that the two 13 piece sets are not identical component wise. The new set has a 12" omelet pan and a 3qt covered Chefs pan which my first set did not have. These additions came at the expense of the strainer insert for the 6 Qt. stockpot and the 4 Qt. covered sauce pan. I don't miss the strainer but I do sorely miss the 4 Qt. sauce pan. The Chefs pan is no substitute for that but it does come in handy for reductions etc.I find the pots and pans to be easy to clean. De-glazing helps start the cleaning and soaking in hot soapy water renders most stuck-ons wipeable. Bar Keeper's Friend keeps them smooth and polished.I had considered "upgrading" to All Clad tri ply but when I checked out their products a retail stores it seemed to me that their products did not have the heft that they did a few years ago. I found my opinion prevalent in reviews of All Clad. All Clad is still a very excellent product but the gap, if there was one, between their quality and performance compared to Calphalon seems to have either disappeared or narrowed to negligible. Unfortunately, the price gap remains.

I researched the internet for about 3 weeks before deciding to purchase this set to replace my old non-stick cookware. I've been using this new set for about 2 weeks now and I absolutely love it! I've cooked everything from pork chops, chicken, steaks, sauerkraut and sausages, and even homemade soup without any difficulty. If you've never used stainless steel, you will have a small learning curve and need to watch your food closely for the first few attempts. These pans don't require as much heat as my old non-stick cookware. I never need to cook anything above a medium temperature with this new set. It carmelizes foods beautifully and the flavor is amazing. Those little brown bits at the bottom of the pan make the most wonderful sauces and add so much flavor to soups or stews!Another reason that I chose this set is because you can take it right from the stove top to the oven. I've started cooking a few things on the stovetop and then finished them off in the oven with no problem at all. Even though the handles stay cool on the stovetop, they will get hot in the oven so make sure you are careful. I also love the way the lids are designed. The are made to rest slightly lower than the rim of the pot and are so easy to clean! I did notice that if you leave a lid on a simmering pot, it will get hot enough that you need to use a pot holder or kitchen towel to lift it. A small price to pay for oven friendly lids that are as functional as they are beautiful.Cleaning these pans has been a breeze! I've never had to 'scrub' anything. Even after being lazy and leaving the dirty pans to sit over night. If something was dried on, I simply let the pan soak for a few minutes in warm soapy water and wiped it clean with a no scratch sponge. Don't be alarmed if you see white patches or odd discolorations on the bottom of your pans after you've washed them. All you have to do is just sprinkle some Bar Keeper's Friend on the bottom of the pan and wipe with a damp sponge and rinse clean and wipe dry. They dissapear almost like magic. While you could put these pans in the dishwasher, it isn't really recommended. I've always handwashed my pans because my dishwasher is small. I think this cookware is beautiful and I want too keep it looking that way so that I can display it on my new hanging pot rack!

I’ve been cooking with teflon or cast iron forever and finally traded the teflon in for SS and did quite a bit of research on what set to get. I do some pretty serious home cooking and put this set to the test with a traditional carbonara. The pan cooked the guanciale to perfection and a fairly low heat at the heat distribution was wonderful. SS gave a great fond to the dish and the guanciale was cooked to lightly cooked perfection. Heat handled perfectly as pasta was added and when the egg and cheese was added it did not cook which is what you want. Used the large stock pot for pasta and it heated quickly and performed as expected. Looking forward to seeing what else this set can do but very happy thus far. Great weight to the pans. They are thick but not to heavy to handle. Speaking of handles i love how they feel and the did not get hot at all. If you dont want to fork out the 1000+ for a similar all clad set i think you’ll be very happy with these!

I love my stainless steel Calphalon set. These are sturdy, durable, and support a healthy life style. I can see myself using these for many many years ahead.I did a lot of reading on alternative cookware to steer away from teflon coated non-stick sets. I'm so glad I chose this tri-ply stainless steel set. It takes some getting used to to cook in these...but they are amazing! Go get your set:)
