OXO Good Grips 1-1/2 Inch Natural Pastry Brush

Do you have a rubber pastry brush? Well, throw that thing away because it's awful! lolI decided to get a better pastry brush because I am sick of how the rubber brushes don't actually hold any liquid and make it impossible to use. Nothing like globs of egg wash ending up on the side of your pastry instead of evenly on top...This brush is pretty great and is made from boar bristles (I think). It is ten times better than my old brushes. The brush is even angles a bit which is supposed to help keep the bristles off the counter. I will say though, some of the bristles are bent a little but its no big deal.

I was a little worried that I’d never get it clean the first time I used olive oil with it but it surprisingly washed right clean with dish soap and water. I haven’t had an issues with bristles coming lose either.

The brush works really well - I mean it does its job. But, it also sheds the hairs.

I almost always prefer oxo products, so I was kind of surprised then the hairs started to fall out when I began using it! It’s not a lot, it could happen with any natural hair pastry brush, but just beware!

Love it! I bought this as a gift for my grandmother she had been looking for a pastry brush like this in stores and couldn't find one. This one remindes her of the one she had when I was a little kid an she lost it in the house fire so I am so happy I was able to find this one to gift her.

Personally, I think it is a little short and the bristles are skimpy.

This pastry brush feels good in your hands and is gentle enough for phyllo leaves, etc. The only thing I found that was a problem was that the bristles will come out (just 1 or 2) but you have to be careful to see them or they will be in your food. I like OXO products and will purchase their products again; I just wish the bristles were locked in a but better.

This replaced a silicon "brush" that got more of my oil-lemon-seasoning mixture on the counter than on the bird. This behavior was due to the lack of absorption and the spring-back of the faux bristles. Aside from a chicken, I also used this for an egg white wash on a challah. No drips. No splash. Uniform coating. What a relief.

At last a pastry brush that does what I want. The silicone ones are too chunky and the bristle ones inevitably lose bristles.

Nice and fine with soft bristles for coating pastry, brushing flour off home made bread dough, or brushing flour onto bread dough. Nice and wide for great cover. No bristle loss so far.
