Great Radio Great Price!
This is a great stereo for my boat. I installed it myself and the install was simple. Just match the wires. I installed it in the cabin of my boat so I can't say how effective it is against water but so far it has held up well and I keep my boat in the water on the intercostal. The Bluetooth connects easily to my phone and has decent range. I paired it with a couple Kenwood marine speakers and and the music sound is crisp, clear and loud enough for me and my friends on the sand bar. The drain on the battery is minimal as well. I have no complaints! Great product for the price!

Well pleased! Lots of features for a good price.
I had an older Alpine unit that performed well but it used the 15 pin connector instead of the new connector for the iPod 5th gen which is what i have. I was looking to upgrade to something more modern. This had the features that were important to me: blue tooth, marine grade, USB, and 3 sets of pre amp outputs. I installed it in my boat over the weekend and it was pretty straight forward. This unit powers 4 speakers and I have two four channel amps powering another 8 speakers plus the dedicated pre amp outputs for the subwoofer. Sounds awesome! I love being able to connect to my iPod with no wires. I have not tried the call function yet.

Junk.
Ordered on June 14th, received on June 17th, installed on June 20th. Seemed to work OK, but the biggest issue I ran into was the shuffle feature when using the USB stick. It tried to search by "folder" and only shuffled 3 or 4 songs. I triple checked all the MP3s on the USB and everything appeared to be formatted the same with nothing in a "folder" or designated any different than the other songs. So I was left with the option of listening to the same 3 songs over and over, or having to play from track 1 every time I turned on the stereo and listen to the same songs over and over - neither was a great option and I cannot figure out any way to fix it.That would have been bad enough, but this past weekend (July 25th to be exact) the unit just straight up and died on me. It first displayed “MISWIRING CHECK WIRING THEN PWR ON” which I thought was odd because I hadn't messed with the wiring. But I double checked all the connections at the back of the unit and at the speakers and not surprisingly they were all fine. So I powered off and then powered it back on as directed and it went straight to showing “PROTECTING SEND SERVICE”. Great.Maybe it seemed like a great idea at the time to include that feature, but now I have a brick of a stereo that's just over a month old that I need to send to be serviced. And big thanks to Amazon for their "sorry, it's been over 30 days, we can't help you" response to the warranty request. Frustrating, but not the reason for 1 star.It gets 1 star for being difficult to read in any amount of sunlight, for having the WORST shuffle logic possible, and for bricking itself after only a month installed and only 2 trips on the water. I know it's not the most high-end head unit out there, but for $95 I'd expect something a little better than this.***EDIT*** After a call to Kenwood tech support, it turns out that Kenwood changed their software a few years back and now you have to have your MP3s formatted and filed in a very specific manner. Nothing in the manual or literature tells you how to do it, and the information I could find and was sent from the tech rep wasn't very helpful. I did find this, which explained it much better: http://www.kenwoodforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=5008 - apparently this is an issue across all their products and has frustrated multiple people to the point that someone (in that link) wrote a VBSS script to automatically format your files and folders correctly. Kenwood should have stuck with their older "we'll play anything" strategy for the USB and not this complicated attempt to mirror iTunes or whatever it is they're trying to achieve.

Good Buy With a Little Work
Just installed this Kenwood receiver in my boat with no problem. The accessory wires were clearly marked and others are straightforward. Only problem was that mine didn't come with a manual. That's probably why I got a good price, since maybe it was a floor model or return. Once I searched and downloaded manual, I felt confident with the wiring hook up. When I installed, it needed an antenna - so buy an antenna on the front end if your existing receiver has a built in antenna. It sounds great and I fit well into my existing boat dash, so I'm pleased. Bluetooth was easy to sync. So if you see a lower price, expect you may need to do a little extra work to make it pay off.As a follow up, the "Protecting - Send Service" message came on the first time I left the boat cover off for a couple days. The boat is on the lift and has a roof over it. Now, I can't make it work and a year has passed - so agree with folks who say that it is not marine quality.

One great marine radio.
I put this in my boat this summer. I could not be happier! The sound is awesome, all of the controls are well placed and very intuitive. The bluetooth is so great. I can be in the water with my Lifeproof case swimming with the phone and still change the music and volume. I could get about 20 feet from the boat before the bluetooth started to loose signal. The included USB port allows connectivity as well as charging. Just an all around great product. But what else do you expect from a name like Kenwood.
