This nut fit the 3MM slot in my Strat perfectly with an almost non existent edge hangover. The string grooves were very good. All I had to do was sand down to height.The color was perfect. I could not ask for a better Strat nut.

Perfect fit after removing the old plastic nut which caused a flimsy string response (if u got experience in modding you know). I didn’t immediately glue it in place because I just wanted to see where it go, nothing permanent. Most of the strings sounded buzzy which indicated a cut to the slots of each string. Now this can be tricky and has the potential to ruin a new nut but with some inexpensive grated rods with the respective diameters (eBay purchase of a 10 rod set-cheap but effective) I was able to saw and sand with 600grit paper each slot to perfection. After a long process of sawing/sanding there was no buzz from any strings, all strings resonant, clear and intonated with open chords. Great product just find your size and anticipate some extra work. I’ve done this over the years with success and failures, it’s just part of the learning luthier’s journey and a very rewarding payoff. Be persistent.

This is a good quality bass nut, however I unfortunately cannot use it with my bass. My Mexican P bass requires a curved nut, so this did not cut it. I attempted to sand it down enough to use, but it still was not compatible with my instrument. Despite this, I can tell it is a good quality nut.

Nice quality nut. You can feel the difference between this one and a lower quality nut for sure. I used this one on my Son’s Epiphone Les Paul PeeWee. It fit great and did not require a lot of modification. I would recommend this product.

This is a generic nut, so don't expect it to automatically fit your application perfectly out of the box. But, that's part of the beauty. For the dedicated tinkerer who is reading Amazon reviews about a small guitar component before making a decision, I can't recommend this more. The high quality bone makes fine adjustments possible, but it comes machined enough to not have to start from scratch. Personally, I enjoyed the process of sanding and filing down where necessary for a perfect fit, and the look is far superior to the stock plastic nut with overly deep grooves.Again, this nut *allows* (vs. Requires) you to customize it to fit an individual guitar, but does not require significant work to get ready to fit and install. I've been through several different guitar nuts on Amazon, and this is by far the. best. I've not yet tried the Graph Tech, but for me, there's no need to keep looking. Plus, the bone nut adds the authentic look and feel of how guitars were originally constructed.This is actually my first review, and I've given Amazon plenty of business over the years. I felt it necessary to weigh in after spending an inordinate amount of time trying to get this right, considering my extremely pleasant experience incorporating this product into my guitar build. It's cheap, there are free returns, you have nothing to lose. But if you try it, you won't be sending it back.

The string slots are just flat, parallel to the base - this causes the string buzz. The slots should be tilted towards the headstock.
