Bec McMaster's London Steampunk series continues to evolve into a complex and fascinating mix of historical and paranormal romance. The first two books in the series dealt with characters who were on the outer fringe of British society. They spent much of their time battling against the Echelon and their police force known as the Nighthawks. With My Lady Quicksilver, the series is taking a new turn by having one of the rebels (Rosalind Fairchild) go up against the leader of the Nighthawks (Sir Jasper Lynch).I loved both main characters and how the author depicted their chemistry. These are two people from very different parts of society yet they have so much in common if they would only talk to one another. Jasper is my favorite type of romantic hero: stoic, proper, but sexy as hell when he gets in the right mood. I found his fear of losing control of his blood lust to be something surprising and made him easy to root for. Rosalind was a great heroine as well with her intelligence, loyalty to her family, and her kindness to the unfortunate. As I mentioned above, the chemistry between Rosalind and Jasper is off the charts. They are instantly attracted to one another even when Rosalind is disguised as the rebel Mercury and the secretary Rosa. They spent a good deal of time circling around each other and I did find myself getting a bit frustrated with them. The constant back and forth was interesting, but I thought it slowed the plot down too much. But, thankfully, once things started moving along in the romance department, the book really got going.Hidden identities aren't my normal theme of choice, but I thought it worked really well here. By having Rosalind go undercover, readers are able to see the Nighthawks in their comfortable environment and help them realize that things are never what they appear in this world. Jasper and the Nighthawks have been working against the rebels for awhile so it was interesting to learn more about their organization and their mission. There were a lot of new characters introduced into the London Steampunk world in this installment. My two particular favorites were Nighthawks Garret and Perry. These are two partners who obviously have insane chemistry and I am excited to read their story in Forged by Desire. I also liked that there were a few members of the Echelon who might act as allies for the rebels. The plot is definitely thickening and I can't wait to see where Bec McMaster goes next.

A lady's dangerous game
I loved this book, let me start by saying that I 'loved' the 'book'. Not just the story, the publisher did a marvelous job giving the reader a thick paged sturdy feeling book and I was thrilled, after so many books that fall apart with a reading this one seems to be the exception to the rule. Now the important stuff...I have read every one of Ms. McMasters books and even her short on the kindle. This lady knows how to give her readers what they want. The story between Mercury and Lynch feels real and it feels rushed and it feels heady. Everyone has problems under the rule of the blue bloods, even the rogues. Especially the humans, but the blue bloods aren't the only villians, this world is an equal opportunity cesspit at times, nasty humans, creepy vampires and nasty cyborgs called Mechs.Look, all I can say is that I don't give out spoilers, but pick up these books, all of them, and enjoy a frothy good read. The descreptions are wonderful and the characters catch your breath with their desires. Will continue buying the books as they come out and now to see what else I can pre-order from Ms. McMaster.

Paranormal, yes, steampunk, not so much
This one had a few more twists than some of the others and held my interest better, although it does follow the basic formula of the other novels. If you were going to read any of these out of sequence this would probably be the one to do first. I would still recommend reading them in order, however. Steampunk elements are still few and far-between, but if you like a basic paranormal romance this series is for you.

Worth every penny and your time!
I have read all 3 of her books...the 1st one was excellent, very enjoyable and I purchased the 2nd in the series, also really really good. This one, the 3rd in the series, My Lady Quicksilver is SPECTACULAR! The whole cliché with, I couldn't put it down? Totally true. It is that well-written and fun. It has elements of vampire romance, but it is unique in it's approach to it. I had no idea what the steampunk genre was, but now I do and it is fabulous. If you enjoy JR Ward, Kresley Cole and the like, you will love this author. Can't wait for the next one!!!

another great book in this series
Highly recommended for anyone following this series of Steam Punk novels. Once again a complete story and characters in it's own right but nicely linked to the earlier books.Plenty of action and adventure here as usual and a similar romance to the earlier books. Can't wait to get hold of the next book in this excellent series.

My favorite author
Bec McMaster delivers again! This time with the question what happens with the leader of a rebellion works under cover for the person who is trying to catch her. The ending itself is pure genius and is worth the read! Bec always writes well written interesting and awesome books! Highly recommend
