What type of Grit do I use for this rock set & how much grit?

First, separate the crystal from the rough rock. I use a 4 step procedure using a coarse grit (50 to 70 grit ) for the first step. 2nd step is a fine grit ( around 200 to 300 grit ). Then I use a standard prepolish and polish for the last 2 steps. Each step takes about 7 to 10 days. Use 2 tablespoons per pound of rock for the first 2 steps, then use 1 tablespoon per pound for the last 2 steps. Use plastic beads for steps 2 through 4, none for step 1. Fill your container with clean water to the bottom of the top layer of rock for all steps. Check every other day on all phases to make sure everything is going well. Add water if too foamy all phases. I hope this helps you. Good luck with your project.

approximately how many stones are in 3 pounds?

Don't know as I bought them for my great grand daughter and I never saw them. She liked the gift and thanked me.

Is there a book that comes with the stones to identify them?

No. They just come in 3 1lb ziplock bags with country of origin on the bag. Still it was a nice mix of stones. Even got some nice crystal points.

Great addition to our rock collection

My 4 yr old loves collecting and small treasures! We have a small rock collection and this set was a great addition. The variety and quality was excellent. The rocks are really unique and a good size. For now we really enjoy the textures and colors…. Looking forward to learning the names and connecting it to other science activities as he gets older.

Best one yet

I usually buy a few pounds of the Brazil mix from Fantasia and I buy a few more from another retailer to have more variety. That wasn’t necessary this time. I am thoroughly impressed with the variety, quality, and quantity of crystals I received. I would highly recommend this product.

Rocks are beautiful

I loved that the rocks were separated by location. Some of the rocks, after washing, are so pretty that I am not going to tumble. Will buy again.

Pretty rocks

Nice assortment of rocks. Lots of variety and color. They are delivered in bags marked with the different regions they come from. Size of the rocks aren't bad, but some are not suitable for tumbling do the the rock type.Would be nice if they include some sort of list of the rocks your getting.

Money well spent!

I am a Newby at the rock tumbling world, but when I got the rocks I was very pleased. They sent a very good selection of rocks and gems and nice big ones too. I thought the price for the rocks was a value for your money.

Amazing colors of medium to large size very good quality rocks!

I absolutely LOVE the variety of stones from Fantasia Materials. The colors are just amazing, especially when wet. They are not just small pebbles but good size rocks. Perfect to be displayed just as they are or tumbled. Also, you can clearly distinguish just by looking what they are.
