James Caan (The Godfather), Nicolas Cage (Face/Off) and Sarah Jessica Parker ("Sex inthe City") are three sides of a deliriously funny triangle in this "refreshing blast of comic lunacy" (WCBS-TV) that gambles with an off beat premise and hits the jackpot with big laughs! Jack Singer (Cage) is terrified of commitment but even more terrified of losing his beautiful school teacher fianc'e Betsy (Parker). So as an act of faith, he takes the plunge and agrees to tie the knot in a quickie Vegas ceremony. But when he makes a bad $60,000 bet with mobster Tommy Korman (Caan), the marriage "knot"and all of Jack's dreams starts unraveling fast. The only way that Korman will forgive the debt, he says, is if Jack will loan him Betsy for the rest of the weekend! It's yet another sucker bet for Jack though because Korman plans to win Betsy away for good!

I always liked "Honeymoon In Vegas" ever since I first saw the ...
Before I write my review I was hoping this opportunity could also be used to incorporate the film from its 480p Standard Definition to at least High, even Full or Ultra Definition?I always liked "Honeymoon In Vegas" ever since I first saw the film 🎥 at the time in 1991 when I was Sixteen Years Old, because it illustrated a vantage point I could relate to in that my mother almost seemed exactly how Jack Singer's mother appears in the beginning of the film (although she is still alive), but because seeing Sarah Jessica Parker, who then at her age looked like your typical girlfriend from next door, and how it might be possible to have those similar idiosyncrasies that Jack did, but be fortune enough to have a pretty and good woman by your side, and that money and all the other status symbols that comes along with pressure and that having what Jack had then seemingly likely improbable, although may be it wasn't too improbable, and at the end of the movie, when Sarah Jessica Parker says she was in "disbelief" that Jack had risked his life jumping out of an airplane with the Flying Elvis Team from Utah Chapter, hearing Nicolas Cage say at the end "I knew there wasn't any point in living, if I couldn't have you baby", was one of those unfamiliar Hollywood moments that made me think then of the true meaning of life, and that how just maybe in real life another Betsy Nolan & Jack Singer were about to meet and fall in love, and just maybe, maybe that person who was Jack in the film, perhaps, could in the future potentially be me?!.....

A forgotten 90s chick flick
The 90s had some great romantic comedies, and this is a good example. Nicholas Cage plays a NYC PI Jack in love with a brainy but beautifully sexy teacher Betsy (Sarah Jessica Parker). Jack promises his dying mother he will never marry (seriously?), but Betsy pushing for a commitment (which she absolutely deserves). Jack eventually decides a Vegas wedding is in order and Betsy agrees. Being a romantic comedy, Jack joins a top secret poker tournament and ends up gambling Betsy away to Tommy, a charming but still sinister gambler type. The next thing we know, Betsy is off to Hawaii with Tommy (when else will she get a chance like that) and Jack is on a cross country adventure which, we promise, will intersect with the flying Elvises. What makes this a 90s comedy is that Jack and Betsy get to act a little smarter than they would in the 1930s. Betsy's initial reaction to the news that she's been given to Tommy as payment for debts is rage, but then she realizes that going off with him is actually the perfect punishment for Jack. Our reward is watching Nicolas Cage in his snarky prime navigating through endless airport transportation disasters - he's learning his lesson the hard way. Even Tommy (James Caan) is a revelation - he really has a great family coming to Hawaii. It's a shame he and Betsy won't quite work out.

Good Old-Fashioned Comedy
I loved this movie when it first came out in theatres (about a million years ago) and again when I rented it recently to share with my 13-year-old granddaughter who also laughed out loud. Kapa'a or Kapa'aa??? lmao

underrated classic!! It's like UNBEATABLE!
This is truly one of my favorite movies. It isn't some grand, dramatic film or anything, but doesn't try to be. It is about a couple (Parker and Cage) who go to Vegas to get married. Jack (Cage) is reluctant to get married, but agrees so he doesn't lose Betsy (Parker.) Tommy (James Caan) sees Betsy in the lobby and she looks exactly like his deceased wife. A poker game ensues and Jack ends up owing the gambler Tommy a large sum of money...so Betsy is the payment (since Jack has no choice.) And the Hawaii trip begins. I won't give away any more, but it is very fun. The small role by Pat Morita and ESPECIALLY Peter Boyle are not to be missed. And even non-Elvis fans will like the score full of Elvis songs sung by many artists. And...flying Elvises!!!! oh yeah!My son who only knew of Nicholas Cage from action movies is now a fan. (I have since introduced him to Raising Arizona, Valley Girl, and even Vampire's Kiss!)It is just a fun movie with lots of great performances. My family often finds ourselves quoting this movie...(e.g., "you're just so blithe about it" "yellow then red!") This is SOOOO worth the price!!

Perfect for the Elvis fan that likes to laugh!
Love this cheese ball movie! You really can’t go wrong with flying Elvis’s! Or as my dad would say, “Elvi” (plural of Elvis)You’ll also enjoy reminiscing on the Vegas of yesteryear! Most of the hotels shown don’t even exist anymore! Except obviously Bally’s where it was filmed!Every time I purchase something online, I always check the reviews. I count on others to help me choose the best option. My reviews are always my honest opinion and I try to include photos if possible. If my review has helped you in any way, please click the "helpful" button below so that I know! HE LIVES IN A SHACK!!
One of the all-time great Nicolas Cage comedies. Worth it just to see a gang of Elvis impersonators parachute en mass out of an aircraft over the Las Vegas strip. At night. With all the glittery little lights on their rhinestone costumes lit.

...endlich!!!
