Excellent Thermometer
This is an excellent thermometer. It works precisely and I love that it tells me how much longer my meat will take to reach safe temperatures. I had the same one before, and after a while, the probe stopped working. I contacted their customer service, and they sent me a new one without hassle. So, great product and great customer service. We did leave our first AcuRite thermometer outside in the rain for a few days, which is why we needed a new one, but I did not even have to research others, since I loved this one so much. Highly recommend this!

Does the job. Accurate, Reliable.
I've used it for beef, pork, chicken, and turkey. Works great. For my first half-dozen uses I verified its accuracy with a handheld digital meat thermometer: spot on. It would be nice if the probe cord were a little longer, but it's long enough if I don't put the probe in too far back in the oven. The remote fob is a nice feature and the wireless link works flawlessly. I've owned three other in-oven meat thermometers and so far this is the best.

Does the Job and Does it Well.
Thus far, this has been a fantastic thermometer. Short backstory: had the classic Taylor with a timer. Classic Taylor died after owning it for just over a year. Replaced it with this.ON TO THE REVIEW!This AcuRite thermometer is great. Designed for baking, grilling, and all things in between, it is more than capable for anything you can throw at it. When you turn it on, it instantly gives you a selection as to what meat you are cooking and will tailor the cut off temp appropriately with next to no effort. In addition, this timer features a cook time estimator - it performs this task via measuring the rate of temperature increase and doing the math to see how long it will take to get to the target temperature. Complete with a backlight, this thermometer will not leave you hanging. Well, it might - but that is due to the industrial sized magnets on the back of it. They add quite a bit of heft at 2"x.5", but this thing will hang anywhere. The probe provided definitely rings as good quality - it uses a steel braided cable and a silicone grip on the end of the probe. Seems pretty accurate.Remote warning station (the unit on the left of the item picture) is a bit of a gimmick. Will vibrate or beep at you when your food is close to finished and then alarm when it is indeed finished.Downsides:- Top demerit: range between wireless receiver and base unit is extremely limited, even with new batteries. 10', 20' tops. Not great for large distances.- Main unit display can be difficult to read if not angled exactly right. Gets that LCD ghosting effect.- Worried that main unit knob may break off - seems instable.- Cannot use other probes. Plugged in the old Taylor probe and got a reading of 106F. I'm sure I could re-calibrate it, but then the original calibration would be off.- Wish the belt clip unit had a magnet on it to store with the thermometer (this lack of functionality is as close to nit-picking as I can get)

Accurate
This was a number one Christmas gift for our 39-year-old son who loves to grill. My husband has one, that he is used for years. Probe goes into the meat, you watch the game. It will show you what’s going on in your grill. You can also use this in your oven.

Simple, cheap, and fragile
OK, this thing works OK out of the box. I have some major complaints. The pager will not tell you what the temperature is. This was not clear. The pager has one function and that is to beep when the alarm temp is set. The alarm temperature selection is very easy to customize. I do appreciate that. Unfortunately, the probe failed within one month of operation making this the least robust meat thermometer I have ever used. I will not buy another.

Accurate, robust, thermometer: pager feature more than a gimmick
The thermometer works well, has a long enough cord that I can set the display on the counter next to the oven, and it has a clear read out. The remote pager is a nice feature too. I originally thought it was just a gimmick but it bailed me out once when I got caught up watching tv and lost track of time. Most importantly, the probe seems accurate and I’ve been very happy with the done-ness of the meats I’ve used it with (steak, chicken, pork, and sausages so far). The only reason it doesn’t get 5 stars from me (I’d give it 4 1/2) is because some of the suggested targeted temperatures are outdated...or at least, they don’t match the most recent recommendations I’ve found from authorities on the web. That’s no big deal as you can dial in any target you want, it just subtracts a little from the product. Overall I am very happy with it.

Very good thermometer
My wife had a couple All-Clad T223 stainless steel oven probe thermometers before but they kept failing for one reason or the other. I did some research online and found others were having similar issues. I then looked for other oven probe thermometers that received good ratings. This one was on the list as highly rated so I bought it. My wife has used it a few times and it works very well (much better than the All-Clad from the start). If it keeps working well we're considering buying another one or two as gifts. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Neat concept, but a bit fragile.
When it works, it's great! Unfortunately, I have to wrap the probe in aluminum foil because when I put it through the hole in my grill lid, if it rests directly on the bottom half of the grill (but above the grates), the temp reads too hot (like error hot). Also, for some reason, one time when I used it, I couldn't read the display for a while, but then later it started working. I suspect something laid against the screen in the drawer, but don't know for sure. Also, the "count-down to done" feature doesn't really work. It tells you in the last few minutes when the meat will be ready. Overall, it's okay, but a bit fragile.
